About Premio
Premio is a Cork-based software development and eCommerce company. We develop and support web applications and eCommerce solutions for Irish and international clients.
A key part of our business is our proprietary B2B eCommerce platform, developed specifically for wholesalers and distributors. The platform integrates with our clients' existing ERP and business systems and supports business-critical online ordering and customer service processes.
We are looking for a Software QA & Technical Support Engineer to join our team in Cork.
This is a varied technical role combining software testing, quality assurance and technical support. This isn't a traditional testing-only role. Some days you'll be testing a new feature before release; on others you might be investigating why an integration isn't behaving as expected or helping resolve an issue reported by a customer.
It would suit someone looking to develop their career in software who enjoys investigating problems, understanding how applications work and working closely with both customers and developers.
You don't need to know everything on day one. We're looking for someone with a good technical foundation, strong problem-solving skills and the curiosity to develop a deeper understanding of software testing, troubleshooting and web application development.
The Role
A key part of your role will be helping us ensure the quality and reliability of our B2B eCommerce platform and client applications. You will test new features and changes before they are released and help investigate technical issues reported by our clients. As your knowledge of the platform grows, you will take greater ownership of QA, troubleshooting and client support.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Testing new features, enhancements and bug fixes prior to release
- Creating and maintaining test plans and test cases
- Carrying out functional, regression and browser/device testing
- Reproducing and clearly documenting software issues
- Working with developers to investigate and resolve bugs
- Responding to client support queries
- Helping investigate issues involving application behaviour, data and configuration
- Using browser developer tools, logs and database queries to help diagnose problems
- Communicating clearly with clients regarding issues and resolutions
- Assisting with client onboarding and configuration
- Supporting our software release and deployment processes
- Helping us continuously improve our QA and support processes
As you gain experience in the role, there will also be the chance to become more involved in automated testing and minor software development work.
About You
We're looking for someone who is curious, technically minded and enjoys solving problems. Ideally, you will have:
- Around 1–3 years' experience in software QA, technical/application support or a similar technical role
- Some experience testing web applications
- A basic understanding of how web applications work
- Familiarity with HTML, CSS and JavaScript
- Some experience working with SQL or relational databases
- An understanding of APIs and client/server applications
- Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Good attention to detail
- A willingness to learn and develop your technical skills
- The confidence to communicate with customers and work closely with developers
- Confidence using AI tools responsibly as part of day-to-day work for troubleshooting, testing, technical research and written communication, while critically reviewing and validating their output
Most importantly, when someone says "this isn't working", your instinct should be to find out why. We don't expect you to immediately know the answer. We want someone who will approach the problem methodically: reproduce it, gather information, investigate what is happening and work with the team to get it resolved.
Technical Skills
You don't need experience with everything listed below, but experience in some of these areas would be useful:
- SQL and relational databases
- Browser developer tools
- REST APIs
- Git or other source control systems
- Automated software testing
- C#, ASP.NET, Python, PHP, Java or another server-side technology
- Azure, AWS or other cloud environments
- ERP or accounting software
- B2B or B2C eCommerce platforms
Location
The position will be based in our Cork office, with an element of hybrid working available. There may occasionally be a requirement to meet clients or assist with client implementations.
Why Join Premio?
You'll join a small, experienced software team where you'll be involved in real client projects and product releases from the start.
Rather than working in a narrowly defined testing or support role, you'll gain exposure to the full software lifecycle, from understanding requirements and testing new functionality through to deployment, troubleshooting and supporting real customers.
You'll work directly with experienced developers and build a detailed understanding of how web applications, databases, APIs and integrations work in a production environment.
