Position Description
The purpose of the Developing Businesses function is to scale the emerging businesses within Customer Solutions and support the delivery of ESB's Net Zero Strategy. The function comprises four businesses: Smart Energy Services (SES), delivering decarbonisation solutions to business customers; ecars, delivering EV charging infrastructure and services to support the transition to electric vehicles; Superhomes, delivering residential retrofit solutions to reduce customers' carbon footprints; and So Energy, a London based supplier of gas, electricity, energy products and related services to residential customers across the UK.
Each business is delivering a significant portfolio of projects to support ambitious growth plans and operational scaling. These initiatives vary considerably in scale, complexity and value, ranging from smaller business improvements to multi million euro strategic programmes. As Developing Businesses continues to grow, a structured and effective Project Management Office (PMO) is essential to provide governance, oversight and delivery assurance across the portfolio
The PMO Specialist plays a key role in enabling Developing Businesses to successfully deliver its portfolio of strategic investments. Acting as a centre of excellence, the role supports the development and implementation of PMO frameworks, governance and delivery standards, while providing portfolio insight, constructive challenge and effective oversight to support successful project delivery and informed decision making across multiple fast growing businesses.
Key Responsibilities
Design, implement and continuously improve the Developing Businesses project management methodology, templates, tools and delivery standards, ensuring alignment with ESB project management principles and consistent delivery across the portfolio.
Establish and maintain project delivery controls, including stage gates, project reviews, health checks, safety, risk and issue management, dependency management and escalation processes.
Ensure lessons learned reviews are completed for all major projects, with recommendations tracked, embedded into future project delivery approaches and reflected in contract negotiations and business case approvals.
Monitor portfolio performance, providing oversight of project milestones, budgets, forecasts, risks, issues and dependencies, and identifying emerging delivery trends requiring management attention.
Lead the planning and operation of Project Boards, coordinating agendas, decisions, actions and escalations to support effective oversight and decision making.
Facilitate workshops and process mapping activities with project teams and stakeholders to support project planning, risk management, lessons learned and continuous improvement.
Provide guidance and constructive challenge to project teams, promoting good project management practices and strengthening delivery capability across Developing Businesses.
Essential
Minimum of 7 years’ relevant experience
Strong knowledge of project delivery, including cost, schedule and risk management
Proven experience in PMO, project governance, delivery oversight or project controls roles
Experience working on large or complex project portfolios
Strong understanding of risk management and control frameworks
Proven experience facilitating workshops and driving delivery improvement across project teams
Strong analytical capability, with ability to interpret project data and identify risks and trends
Third level qualification in Engineering, Project Management or related discipline
Full driving licence and access to a car.
Desirable
Experience in utilities, energy, infrastructure, engineering, construction, EV, retrofit or other project-intensive environments.
Professional qualification such as PMP, PRINCE2, MSP, APM or equivalent.
Location
This position will be based in Santry, Swift Square. The role may entail travel around Ireland and/or UK.

The successful candidate may work flexibly within their jurisdiction with attendance at the workplace for in-person collaboration on at least two anchor days per week. All smart working arrangements are subject to manager approval and ongoing review, based on the operational requirements of the role, the team, and the individual.

Salary
€71,900 - €84,600 per annum (depending on experience)
