Financial Analyst
Moneycube is an award-winning provider of investment and pensions advice in Ireland. We help individuals and companies take control of their finances through better use of technology, transparent pricing, and straight-talking advice.
Three things distinguish our business: we empower our customers, from global tech leaders to switched-on individuals; we put innovative investment portfolios and ideas into practice; and we offer superior customer experience.
We are seeking a commercially driven Financial Analyst to join our team. This is a new role arising due to continued growth in our business.
Role Summary
We are seeking a Financial Analyst to strengthen financial, commercial and operational reporting across Moneycube and related businesses. This is a hands-on role at the intersection of finance, operations and management decision-making.
The successful candidate will help build and own the monthly management reporting pack, reconcile revenue and commissions, improve cash-flow visibility, support financial-statement preparation and provide analysis for operational decisions, client reporting and potential acquisitions.
This is not a role that simply produces numbers. The analyst will be expected to understand what the numbers mean, explain the drivers clearly, identify risks and opportunities, and improve the underlying processes and controls.
Key responsibilities
1. Management reporting, budgeting and forecasting
- Design, produce and continually improve a consistent monthly financial and management reporting pack across the businesses.
- Report on profit and loss, balance sheet, cash flow, budget versus actual performance, forecasts and agreed management KPIs.
- Provide clear commentary on performance drivers, emerging risks, opportunities and actions required.
- Support the annual budget process, rolling forecasts and scenario planning, working with budget owners across the business.
- Develop financial models for business cases, pricing, margins, resourcing decisions and strategic projects.
2. Revenue and commission reconciliation
- Own or support the reconciliation of provider statements, client revenue, fees and commission receipts to CRM, administration and accounting records.
- Validate income accruals, expected receipts, clawbacks and adjustments, and maintain a clear record of unresolved variances.
- Investigate discrepancies promptly, coordinate their resolution and improve the controls that prevent recurrence.
- Develop analysis of recurring revenue, customer-level profitability, product and service-line contribution, retention and revenue concentration.
3. Financial control, cash flow and financial statements
- Prepare and maintain short- and medium-term cash-flow forecasts, highlighting expected requirements, sensitivities and potential pressure points.
- Support the month-end close, including balance-sheet reconciliations, accruals, prepayments, intercompany items and supporting schedules.
- Assist with the preparation of annual financial statements and information required by external accountants, auditors and tax advisers.
- Maintain clear working papers, control evidence and audit trails so that reported figures can be traced and supported.
4. Operational, quality-control and client reporting analysis
- Develop operating-metric reports that help management understand revenue, Assets under Advice, pipeline conversion, client retention, workflow cycle times, service performance and resource utilisation.
- Support the analysis that underpins client reports, annual reviews and portfolio reporting, working with advisors and administrators to ensure the information is accurate and useful.
- Perform quality-control checks and reconciliations across finance, CRM, BIS, provider and client-reporting data, with material issues assigned an owner and tracked to closure.
- Translate complex or inconsistent data into clear analysis for non-finance colleagues, clients and senior management.
5. Acquisitions and commercial decision support
- Support financial due diligence on potential acquisitions, including analysis of historic earnings, recurring revenue, commission persistency, client concentration, cost base, working capital, liabilities, risks and potential synergies.
- Build or review acquisition, valuation and scenario models and help coordinate financial information requests.
- Support post-acquisition integration, including opening-position validation, revenue and cost tracking, reporting alignment and performance against the acquisition case.
- Provide commercial analysis to the Executive Team on new opportunities, investments and business priorities.
6. Process improvement and automation
- Map finance and reporting processes, identify repetitive or error-prone work and prioritise opportunities for automation.
- Use tools such as Excel, Power Query, Power BI, SQL and appropriate AI-enabled workflows to reduce manual effort and improve reporting speed, accuracy and scalability.
- Establish clear data definitions, process documentation, ownership and controls so that improvements are repeatable and resilient.
- Work collaboratively with the Executive Team, advisors, operations, administration and external professional advisers to deliver improvements through to completion.
What success looks like
- A reliable monthly reporting pack is delivered to an agreed timetable, with reconciled figures, concise commentary and clear actions.
- Commission and revenue differences are visible, investigated promptly and supported by stronger recurring controls.
- Management has dependable cash-flow forecasts, balance-sheet reconciliations and financial information for decision-making.
- Core financial and operational metrics have agreed definitions and can be produced consistently across the businesses.
- Manual reporting and reconciliation work is measurably reduced through practical automation and better processes.
- Acquisition opportunities can be assessed quickly and rigorously, and acquired businesses can be brought into a consistent reporting framework.
Skills and experience
Essential
- A relevant accounting, finance, economics or analytical qualification. ACA, ACCA, CIMA or CPA qualified or part-qualified candidates are particularly welcome; equivalent practical experience will also be considered.
- Strong grounding in management reporting, month-end processes, reconciliations, cash-flow analysis and financial modelling.
- Advanced Excel skills, including the ability to structure, test and explain financial models and large data reconciliations.
- Excellent analytical judgement and attention to detail, with the ability to identify the cause and significance of a variance rather than simply report it.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills and confidence presenting financial information to non-finance colleagues.
- A self-motivated, organised approach, with the initiative to work independently while collaborating effectively across the business.
Desirable
- Experience in financial services, a regulated business, a recurring-revenue model or a commission-based environment.
- Experience with Power Query, Power BI, SQL, accounting platforms, CRM systems or workflow-automation tools.
- Exposure to acquisition due diligence, business integration, valuation or commercial finance.
- Understanding of pensions, investments, mortgages or life-insurance products; a QFA qualification or interest in developing sector knowledge would be an advantage.
Who this role would suit
- The role could suit a qualified or part-qualified accountant, an FP&A or management-accounting professional, or an earlier-career analyst who can demonstrate strong technical ability, commercial curiosity and ownership. We place more weight on capability, judgement and potential than on a narrow job-title history.
- The right person will enjoy moving between detailed reconciliations and the bigger commercial picture. They will be comfortable building structure where it does not yet exist and will take pride in producing information that people can trust and use.
Working environment
- 37.5 hour per week time commitment.
- Permanent role based in Dublin with flexibility to work from remote locations from time to time.
- Opportunity to grow alongside a rapidly scaling firm committed to learning, innovation, and excellence.
- Access to Moneycube technology, marketing and operational infrastructure.
- Exposure to leadership, strategy, and cross-company projects.
- Reporting to Head of Financial Advice.
Benefits Package includes:
- Competitive salary based on experience.
- Inclusion in the Moneycube company pension scheme.
- Flexible working environment.
- Death in service life cover.
- Opportunities for career development within a growing business.
