Job Description

Meitheal Architects is seeking a Fire Safety Design Professional to join our collaborative, multidisciplinary practice.

This role offers the opportunity to contribute specialist fire safety and accessibility expertise across Meitheal Architects’ diverse project portfolio, working closely with architects, technologists, designers, consultants and clients to prepare, coordinate and deliver fire safety and accessibility design services. As part of a quality-focused team, you will play a key role in developing fire strategies, managing compliance and supporting design teams throughout the project lifecycle, applying technical expertise, regulatory knowledge and clear communication across all project stages.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and coordinate fire safety strategies, reports, drawings, and supporting documentation
Prepare and manage Fire Safety Certificate applications
Prepare and coordinate Disability Access Certificate applications
Review designs for fire safety, accessibility and Building Regulations compliance
Provide technical input on fire strategy, accessibility strategy and regulatory requirements during design development
Liaise with Fire Authorities, Building Control Authorities and other statutory bodies as required
Respond to Requests for Further Information and authority queries
Support BCAR / BCMS processes during design and construction stages
Carry out construction-stage compliance reviews and site inspections where required
Support final compliance reviews, certification and project close-out
Work collaboratively with internal project teams, external consultants, contractors and clients
Maintain clear records and contribute to Meitheal Architects’ quality management processes

Job Requirements

A relevant third-level qualification in Fire Engineering, Architecture, Architectural Technology, Building Surveying or a related built-environment discipline
Proven experience preparing or coordinating Fire Safety Certificate applications
Experience with Disability Access Certificate applications and accessibility compliance
Strong knowledge of Irish Building Regulations, particularly Part B and Part M
Familiarity with BCAR / BCMS processes
Experience liaising with Fire Authorities, Building Control Authorities and wider design teams
Strong technical writing, drawing review and documentation skills
Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to compliance
Strong communication and coordination skills
The ability to manage priorities and work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
A proactive, solutions-focused approach to technical design and regulatory challenges
