Job Description
The Apprentice Fitter will work alongside experienced fitters and engineers to develop
practical skills in the installation, maintenance, repair, and servicing of mechanical
equipment and systems. The successful candidate will participate in a structured
apprenticeship programme while gaining hands-on experience at customer and project
sites across Ireland.
This role requires a willingness to travel extensively, work in a variety of environments,
and develop the technical competencies required to become a qualified fitter.
Key Responsibilities
Assist qualified fitters with the installation, maintenance, servicing, and repair of
mechanical equipment and machinery.
Support site-based fitting activities in accordance with company procedures and
industry standards.
Learn and apply safe working practices at all times, including compliance with
health and safety regulations.
Read and interpret technical drawings, manuals, and work instructions under
supervision.
Use hand tools, power tools, and measuring equipment safely and effectively.
Assist with equipment inspections, fault finding, and preventative maintenance
activities.
Maintain accurate records of work completed, materials used, and maintenance
activities.
Ensure tools, equipment, and work areas are kept clean, organised, and safe.
Travel to customer and project locations throughout Ireland as required.
Participate in apprenticeship training, assessments, and educational
requirements.
Work collaboratively with colleagues, customers, and subcontractors.
Carry out other reasonable duties as assigned by management.
Education and Training
Minimum Leaving Certificate (or equivalent).
Interest in pursuing or currently enrolled in a recognised Mechanical Automation
and Maintenance Fitting apprenticeship or related programme.
Skills and Experience
Strong interest in mechanical engineering, maintenance, or fitting work.
Good practical aptitude and willingness to learn.
Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Basic understanding of health and safety principles.
Competent literacy and numeracy skills.
Other Requirements
Full clean Category B driving licence
Willingness to travel and work at various locations throughout Ireland and
abroad.
Flexibility regarding working hours where project requirements necessitate.
Ability to work at heights or in industrial environments, subject to appropriate
training and safety procedures.
