"Enabling people with an intellectual disability to have full and meaningful lives through quality person-centred services in partnership with families"

Cheeverstown is a voluntary organisation, regulated by the Health Information & Quality Authority (HIQA).

We provide a wide range of person-centred services, including residential, respite, and day services to almost 400 adults with an intellectual disability in the south Dublin area.

Location:

Currently, Cheeverstown campus, but the position will transition to a new home in Kill.

About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Support Worker to provide person-centred support to a gentleman in his forties who is transitioning from Cheeverstown to his new home in Kill. This is an exciting opportunity to support an individual in building a fulfilling, independent life within his new community.

About the Individual:

I am a friendly man with a great sense of humour who values strong family connections and enjoys being part of his community. I have Autism and Down syndrome and benefit from a calm, structured, and predictable environment.

I enjoy activities such as golf, tennis, and swimming. Staff will be required to actively support me in these activities, including getting into the pool when swimming. I am looking forward to developing new social connections in my new home and expanding my involvement in the local community.

I prefer clear, calm communication and respond best when spoken to slowly and reassuringly. Changes in routine can sometimes be challenging, so consistency and predictability are very important.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide person-centred support tailored to his individual needs
Support community participation and development of social connections
Accompany and actively support during leisure activities (including swimming)
Maintain a calm and structured environment
Promote independence while ensuring safety and well-being
Work effectively as a lone worker

Essential Requirements:

QQI level 5 Major award with all 8 modules completed
Experience supporting individuals with Intellectual Disability and Autism
Experience working as a lone worker
Full, clean driving licence
Calm, patient, and consistent approach
Strong communication skills

This role requires a compassionate, reliable individual who values dignity, respect, and meaningful community engagement.

Please note: All job offers are subject to two successful references, ongoing Garda Vetting, completion of mandatory training (online & onsite) and a satisfactory pre-employment medical.

Salary will be paid at the Care Assistant grade on the HSE Consolidated Salary Scales, depending on qualifications and experience.
