RFC Group has grown significantly through organic expansion and strategic acquisitions. The business is now entering its next phase of development and is creating the new position of Group Commercial Director.
The opportunity
This is not a role managing an established commercial department. The successful candidate will be responsible for building the Group commercial function.
Working directly with the Chief Executive and the Board, you will develop the commercial strategy, systems, processes and leadership capability required to support RFC Group’s long-term growth plans.
You will coordinate business development, sales, marketing, bid management, key account management and commercial governance across all Group businesses.
The role combines strategic leadership with practical execution. You will be expected to identify opportunities, introduce effective commercial disciplines and deliver measurable revenue growth.
Key responsibilitiesCommercial strategy
- Develop and execute the Group’s commercial strategy.
- Identify priority sectors, markets and target customers.
- Create structured market penetration plans.
- Support the Board in assessing new commercial opportunities.
- Provide market intelligence and competitor insight.
Organic growth and key accounts
- Increase revenue from existing customers through structured account development.
- Improve cross-selling across the Group’s service lines.
- Develop national and enterprise account strategies.
- Improve customer retention and long-term contract value.
- Strengthen strategic customer relationships.
Business development
- Lead enterprise and multi-site sales activity.
- Develop strategic partnerships.
- Improve the quality and predictability of the commercial pipeline.
- Introduce structured opportunity qualification.
- Build a sustainable and repeatable sales methodology.
Bid and tender management
- Improve the quality and consistency of bids.
- Introduce stronger bid governance.
- Develop commercial pricing disciplines.
- Increase tender win rates.
- Build reusable bid, proposal and commercial content.
Commercial systems and reporting
- Lead the implementation and adoption of CRM.
- Improve sales forecasting accuracy.
- Introduce meaningful commercial reporting.
- Establish appropriate commercial KPIs.
- Strengthen data-led decision-making throughout the Group.
Leadership
- Build and develop the Group commercial team.
- Coordinate sales, marketing and business development activity.
- Support divisional and operational leaders.
- Create clear ownership and accountability.
- Influence across the Group without creating unnecessary bureaucracy.
Acquisitions
- Support commercial due diligence on acquisition opportunities.
- Assist with the integration of acquired businesses.
- Identify commercial synergies.
- Develop cross-selling opportunities across newly acquired businesses.
Experience required
The successful candidate is likely to have:
- Significant senior commercial leadership experience.
- Experience in facilities management, security, outsourced services or a comparable business-to-business service environment.
- A strong record of winning enterprise, national or multi-site contracts.
- Experience developing and implementing commercial strategy.
- Strong commercial and financial acumen.
- A clear understanding of pricing, margins and contract profitability.
- Experience implementing CRM systems and commercial reporting.
- Experience building a commercial function rather than only inheriting one.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary commercial teams.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.

- Established a coordinated commercial function.

- Increased collaboration across Group businesses.
- Strengthened commercial and bid governance.
- Improved bid quality and tender win rates.
- Created a scalable commercial platform capable of supporting future organic growth and acquisitions.
Recruitment process
The recruitment process is expected to include:
- Initial application and longlist review.
- A 30-minute introductory conversation.
- A DISC behavioural assessment for shortlisted candidates.
- A structured competency interview.
- A final interview with the executive leadership team and a tour of the Dublin operation.
- Executive referencing and offer.
The DISC assessment will support the interview process and will not be used to exclude candidates based on behavioural profile alone.
