Full job description

A busy barrister based in Dublin is looking for an experienced part-time Legal Personal Assistant (PA) to provide an end-to-end support service and manage the day-to-day running of their practice.

This role requires a self-motivated and extremely organised individual who enjoys taking ownership of administrative and financial tasks. You will be the main point of contact for the practice, ensuring everything from court deadlines to financial records is handled efficiently and with the utmost discretion.

Main Duties

Diary and Email Management Proactive monitoring of a busy inbox, taking action where needed, managing a demanding diary, scheduling consultations, and tracking court dates.
Phones and Communication Answering incoming calls and acting as a professional first point of contact, liaising daily with instructing solicitors, clients, and court offices.
Dictation and Document Production Fast and accurate audio typing, alongside formatting legal documents, pleadings, and general correspondence.
Document Management Logging and organising electronic files and physical briefs, ensuring filing systems are kept up to date.
Billing and Accounts Taking ownership of issuing fee notes, liaising with solicitors regarding queries or outstanding invoices, and managing regular bank reconciliations.
VAT Collating financial records and providing all necessary details and documentation to the accountant for regular VAT returns.
Compliance Ensuring strict adherence to GDPR guidelines and maintaining absolute client confidentiality at all times.

What We Are Looking For

A minimum of 3 years' experience working as a Legal PA or secretary (experience in litigation or supporting a barrister directly is a strong advantage).
A self-motivated worker who is extremely organised, with exceptional attention to detail.
Someone who is tech-savvy and proactive about adopting modern technology, whether that means transitioning to paperless briefs, using cloud storage, or updating practice software.
A high level of integrity, discretion, and trust with confidential information.
Solid audio dictation skills and advanced working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Hands-on experience with basic accounts, billing, bank reconciliation, and preparing VAT details for an accountant.
An adaptable approach to work, completely comfortable managing a busy workload independently and unsupervised.
