About the Role
As one of Ireland's most progressive and people-focused building consultancies, we are expanding our team with an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer – Data Centre Specialist . This role is ideal for someone with a strong track record of delivering mechanical building services on technically complex construction projects. At ORS, we provide high-quality engineering and project management services across the commercial, residential, healthcare and mixed-use sectors nationwide.
This is a hands-on engineering role requiring strong technical expertise, excellent coordination skills and proven experience delivering large-scale mechanical building services projects.
Working closely with clients, design teams, contractors and specialist consultants, you will provide technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring high-quality mechanical design, coordination and delivery. You will also support project certification, compliance and quality assurance processes while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage technical coordination of the mechanical package throughout project delivery
- Lead client meetings and coordinate all mechanical engineering communications
- Manage technical submittals, RFIs and design reviews
- Coordinate mechanical, electrical and CSA interfaces to ensure seamless installation
- Develop and review commissioning documentation for mechanical systems
- Prepare and review method statements and risk assessments
- Monitor installation progress and ensure works remain on programme
- Assist with cost management, change control and variation assessments
- Drive completion of O&M manuals and handover documentation
Support and mentor Mechanical Engineers and Package Managers

Essential Requirements
- Must have a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline
- Proven experience delivering mechanical packages on large-scale construction projects such as data centres, pharmaceutical, industrial or other mission critical developments
- Strong understanding of mechanical commissioning, technical submittals and RFI management
- Strong communication, organisational, and problem-solving skill
- Ability to manage multiple projects and maintain high standards of quality and compliance
Proactive approach with strong attention to detail and commitment to professional standards

Desirable Requirements
- Data centre project experience
- Knowledge of commissioning procedures for mechanical building services
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams
- Familiar with BIM coordination and digital construction platforms
- Strong commercial awareness
- Chartered Engineer status or progression toward chartership
- Leadership or mentoring experience within project or compliance teams
- Experience with cleanroom or pharmaceutical projects
Knowledge of LEED or sustainable building standards
