Fohntech group are looking for Senior Power Systems Engineer for a client in Ireland. This position can be fully remote within Europe.
Our Client is an electrical engineering consultancy specializing in the design of high voltage infrastructure and provision of technical commercial and regulatory services relating to high voltage electrical grid connections.
Specializing in high voltage substation detailed design and power system studies they have completed the design of multiple transmission and distribution connected high voltage substations including the associated power system studies. They are based in Dublin and operates in the Irish, UK, African and Middle Eastern markets.
The Role:
The successful Power Systems Engineer will become part of a specialist team delivering HV and MV electrical power system design across a range of large-scale projects, including data centres, commercial developments and critical infrastructure. This role offers the opportunity to work on technically challenging projects while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams from concept through to delivery.
Knowledge & Skills:

Strong technical ability in MV and HV power systems design, including topology design.

Experience in substation design, including AIS/GIS switchgear, transformer sizing, earthing systems, lightning protection, busbar sizing and cable routing.

Ability to prepare MV/HV single line diagrams, basis of design documents, basis of estimates and technical white papers.

Experience designing substations, transformer compounds, underground cable routes, draw pits and client control rooms.

Knowledge of data centre power infrastructure, standby generation, interim power supplies and gas generation systems.

Experience carrying out QA/QC reviews and ensuring designs comply with current industry standards and utility specifications.

Confident liaising with clients, utilities, contractors and multidisciplinary project teams.

Excellent communication skills with the ability to mentor junior engineers and contribute as a technical SME.

Proactive, organised and able to deliver projects to agreed budgets and programmes.
Education & Experience:

Relevant Engineering Qualification in Electrical Engineering or Power Systems.

Minimum of 7 years' relevant experience.

Background in engineering consultancy or construction preferred.
