Full job description

McMahons Builders Providers have been providing quality building supplies and DIY materials to the trade and public for over 190 years and have grown to become one of the largest independent builder’s providers on the island of Ireland, with a network of 12 stores, as well as a Truss Manufacturing plant and 3 Hardwood & Sheet Material branches. McMahons offer a one stop shop offering, with a wide range of products catering for the Builder, DIY enthusiast and Home Owner. McMahon’s extensive product range includes building materials, plumbing & heating, timber & sheeting, insulation, plant & tool hire, painting & decorating, doors & floors, bathrooms, garden and outdoor and much more.

The Role

Reporting to the General Manager, the Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily operations on the production floor, ensuring efficient production processes, and maintaining high standards of quality and safety. This position plays a key role in coordinating with various departments to meet production goals and supports the team in achieving operational excellence in the manufacturing of roof trusses.

Key Responsibilities:

Supervise the day-to-day activities of the production floor to ensure operations align with scheduled timelines and quality standards.
Monitor production metrics and implement necessary process improvements for increased efficiency and reduced downtime.
Collaborate with the General Manager and other departments for production planning and resource allocation.
Enforce safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe and compliant working environment.
Lead, mentor, and develop production staff, providing training and performance evaluations.
Address any operational issues promptly to minimize disruptions in the production process.
Coordinate maintenance and repair activities to ensure all equipment is operational.

The Person:

Strong leadership and team management skills.
Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes, preferably in roof truss production.
Ability to analyse production data to drive performance improvements.
Familiarity with safety regulations and compliance standards within the manufacturing industry.
Proven experience (3-5 years) in a supervisory role within a manufacturing environment.

Experience in roof truss manufacturing or related field is preferred.
Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles and practices.
