About the Role
As one of Ireland’s most progressive and people-focused building consultancies, we are strengthening our pipeline of junior engineers for a Graduate Sustainability Engineer.
As a Graduate Sustainability Engineer, you will support the delivery of energy audits, energy efficiency projects, and sustainability initiatives across a diverse client base. Working alongside experienced engineers and project managers, you will gain hands-on experience delivering practical solutions that help clients reduce energy consumption, improve building performance, and meet Ireland's sustainability and Climate Action targets.
This role offers an excellent opportunity to build your technical knowledge while contributing to projects across a range of sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the delivery of energy audits and energy performance assessments across a range of building types.
- Assist in identifying energy efficiency and decarbonisation opportunities for clients.
- Collect, analyse and interpret energy consumption data.
- Support the preparation of technical reports, energy assessments and client recommendations.
- Assist with BER assessments, Part L compliance and building energy modelling where applicable.
- Contribute to ISO 50001 Energy Management System projects under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Attend site visits to gather data and support project delivery.
- Liaise with multidisciplinary teams, including Mechanical, Electrical and Sustainability Engineers.
- Keep up to date with Irish Building Regulations, Climate Action targets and industry best practice.
Support senior engineers with project delivery, technical research and client presentations.

Essential Requirements
- Bachelor's degree (NFQ Level 7 or higher) in Energy Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Sustainable Energy, or a related discipline.
- Strong interest in sustainability, energy efficiency, and low-carbon building design.
- Familiarity with Irish Building Regulations and energy performance principles through university studies or placement experience.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Good organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Full, clean driving licence and willingness to travel to client sites as required.
- Confident in reading drawings and managing construction documentation
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

Desirable Requirements
- Experience within consultancy environment
- Internship, placement, or project experience in sustainability, building services, or energy engineering.
- Awareness of energy auditing and S.I. 426 requirements.
- Knowledge of BER assessments, DEAP, Part L Compliance, or building energy modelling.
- Awareness of ISO 50001 Energy Management Systems.
Interest in working towards professional accreditation such as Engineers Ireland, CEM, or CEA
