Cubic³ is appointing a Chief Financial Officer to lead financial strategy as the business scales internationally, enable its financial operations for growth and drive rigorous financial evaluation and due diligence across its M&A pipeline.
The CFO owns the group's financial strategy and reporting, and acts as a trusted commercial partner to the Chief Executive Officer, all of our shareholders including our majority investor SoftBank and the board. The role carries full responsibility for financial planning, control, treasury and tax across all Cubic entities and markets.
This is a newly re-shaped mandate for a business entering its next phase. A number of areas sit at the centre of the brief: strengthening the financial systems and controls that underpin a scaling, evolving, increasingly international business, enhancing board governance and control, structuring the group's tax and entity footprint as it enters new markets, and evaluating and executing acquisitions and partnerships.
The CFO leads a finance function that spans multiple international entities and works closely with the wider Cubic leadership team - including commercial, operations and technology - to ensure that financial strategy and business strategy move in step. As Cubic enters new markets, the scope of the role will grow with it. This role will be central to building the reporting rigour, controls environment and investor-facing capability that a pre-listed business requires.
The successful candidate will combine strong technical financial expertise with the commercial judgement and board-level credibility needed to help shape Cubic's next stage of growth.
The role will be based in our head offices in Sandyford, Dublin, Ireland.
The role spans six connected areas of responsibility, reflecting both the core financial leadership brief and Cubic’s current strategic priorities.
Set and own the group’s financial strategy, ensuring it is aligned with commercial and growth objectives.
Partner with the CEO and board on capital allocation, funding strategy and long-term financial planning.
Lead budgeting, forecasting and financial modelling across the group, and provide the board with clear, timely reporting on performance and risk.
Own group consolidation and statutory reporting across all entities, ensuring compliance with standards and increasing rigour as the business scales.
Manage banking relationships, cash flow and liquidity across Cubic’s operating markets, including foreign exchange risk and hedging across the group’s currencies.
Partner closely with colleagues leading corporate strategy to ensure the group's financial plans, investment decisions and resourcing are tightly aligned with Cubic's broader corporate strategy and cross-functional priorities.
Own the performance framework - defining clear, measurable KPIs and holding functions accountable for execution discipline against strategic priorities.
Own the financial systems and reporting infrastructure, including ERP, close processes and management information.
Maintain a robust internal control environment and lead the annual audit relationship.
Continuously improve the efficiency, accuracy and speed of financial operations, including month-end close, FP&A and group consolidation.
Build a high-performing finance team, with the processes and systems needed to support a growing, increasingly international business.
Ensure the necessary systems and reporting infrastructure are to a standard capable of supporting a public offering or parent-company reporting timelines.
Assess the financial and tax implications of entering new markets, including entity structuring, transfer pricing and the repatriation of profits.
Own the group’s transfer pricing policy and intercompany arrangements, working with external advisors to manage cross-border tax risk.
Monitor the impact of evolving international tax frameworks, including OECD BEPS developments, on the group’s structure and operations.
Manage permanent establishment risk and withholding tax on intercompany royalties and dividends and monitor VAT and GST leakage across the group’s markets.
Ensure the group’s tax position is compliant, efficient and well governed across all jurisdictions.
Provide clear, accurate and timely financial information to the board and Executive Leadership Team.
Act as a trusted advisor to the CEO on strategic and commercial decisions.
Represent Cubic externally with investors, lenders, auditors and other key stakeholders.
Lead the financial evaluation of acquisition targets, joint ventures and strategic partnerships, including business case development and financial modelling.
Direct financial and commercial due diligence and provide key input into the negotiation and structuring of transaction agreements.
Own post-acquisition integration from a finance perspective, ensuring synergies are captured and reporting is consolidated cleanly into the group.
Lead the finance function's readiness for capital raises — controls maturity, financial reporting timetables and disclosure standards.
Play an active role in investor relations and broader stakeholder engagement — shareholders, banks, analysts, and capital markets advisors — supporting the company’s readiness for future strategic and financing options.
Advise the board on funding strategy across the growth journey, including any future equity or debt raises.
8–12 years of progressive finance leadership experience, including significant exposure to board-level reporting.
Experience operating across 5+ countries or currencies, ideally including direct or indirect exposure to international tax and transfer pricing.
A track record of improving financial systems, controls or reporting processes in a scaling business.
Exposure to telecom, connected mobility, automotive technology or subscription and usage-based billing models is an advantage, though not essential.
Prior CFO experience is valued but not required; strong first-time CFO candidates from a deputy CFO, finance director or head of finance background are welcome to apply.
A track record of leading, or playing a senior role in, M&A activity — due diligence, deal structuring or post-deal integration.
Exposure to equity or debt capital raises.
Professional accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA or equivalent); membership of Chartered Accountants Ireland is well regarded.
Degree-level education in finance, accounting, economics or a related discipline.
Strong technical financial expertise combined with commercial and strategic judgement.
A confident, credible communicator able to influence at board level and with external stakeholders.
A structured, analytical approach to problem-solving, with sound judgement under ambiguity and at pace.
A resilient, hands-on leadership style suited to a business that is scaling and internationalising.
High standards of governance, integrity and attention to detail.
Familiarity with SaaS/subscription or usage-based KPIs (ARR, churn, unit economics) relevant to Cubic's connected mobility and billing models.
New hires at Cubic³ are required to work onsite five days a week during their six-month probation period to get to know the company, their team, and our ways of working. After probation, we offer a flexible arrangement of up to eight work-from-home days per month, provided it aligns with business needs and performance standards. This arrangement is not a given for all roles.
