About the opportunity

As a Highways Engineer, you’ll take ownership of key design stages—from feasibility and concept development through to detailed design and delivery. You’ll work across a diverse portfolio including highways, major infrastructure schemes, and active travel solutions, helping to create smarter, safer, and more sustainable networks.

Working collaboratively with clients, stakeholders, and the public, you’ll bring technical excellence, clear communication, and innovative thinking to every stage of project delivery. With major programmes underway for Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII), the National Transport Authority (NTA), Irish Rail, local authorities, and leading contractors, you’ll have the chance to make a real impact on projects of national significance.

Here's what you'll need

A Level 8 degree in Civil Engineering

Attained, or close to attaining Chartered Engineer status with Engineers Ireland or equivalent.

Understanding of Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) Publications, UK Design Manual for Roads and Bridge (DMRB) & Active Travel standards

Proven technical experience of Major Highway, Local Road or Active Travel schemes and understanding of Health & Safety legislation

Experience of Construction Supervision and Road Safety Auditing

Experience of Building Information Modelling (BIM)
