The Role
Working as part of the Operations Team, the Lead IT Refurbishment Technician will be responsible for processing IT equipment for secure data destruction, refurbishment, testing and recycling. The successful candidate will help maintain quality standards, support other team members, and assist with the day-to-day running of refurbishment operations. Full training will be provided on our systems and processes.
Responsibilities
- Verify incoming IT equipment against customer orders and accurately record all assets.
- Refurbish, configure and test desktops, laptops and other IT equipment.
- Use specialist software to securely erase data, install operating systems and carry out functional testing.
- Dismantle equipment for parts recovery and recycling where refurbishment is not possible.
- Identify equipment that requires repair or further investigation.
- Ensure refurbished equipment meets company quality standards before dispatch.
- Assist in maintaining accurate stock and asset records.
- Support and guide other technicians where required.
- Work closely with colleagues across Operations to meet customer and production deadlines.
- Follow company Health & Safety, environmental and data security procedures.
Requirements & Skills
Essential
- Good general IT knowledge and confidence working with computer hardware.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems.
- Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
Desirable
- Experience refurbishing or repairing computers or other electronic equipment.
- Experience in a warehouse, production or technical environment.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook and SharePoint).
- Level 5/6/7 qualification in an IT-related discipline is an advantage but not essential.
Training
Comprehensive training will be provided on our refurbishment processes, data destruction software and internal systems.
