"Enabling people with an intellectual disability to have full and meaningful lives through quality person-centred services in partnership with families"
Cheeverstown is a voluntary organisation, regulated by the Health Information & Quality Authority (HIQA).
We provide a wide range of person-centred services, including residential, respite, and day services to almost 400 adults with an intellectual disability in the south Dublin and Kildare area.
The Role:
We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated, and person-centred Support Worker to support two gentlemen living in Johnstown, Co. Kildare, to lead fulfilling and meaningful lives within their local community.
We both enjoy active lifestyles and are looking for someone who values building positive relationships, engaging in meaningful conversations, and supporting us to achieve our personal goals and aspirations.
This role would suit someone who is energetic, proactive, and passionate about supporting people to develop independence, confidence, and social connections. The successful candidate will be a confident driver with a flexible approach to working hours, as occasional evening support may be required to facilitate attendance at football matches, community events, and other social activities. A willingness to support both of us to participate in swimming and other recreational pursuits is essential.
We are looking for someone who can empower and encourage us to be active, valued members of our community while promoting choice, independence, and inclusion in all aspects of our lives. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to work on your own initiative, and a genuine commitment to person-centred support are key qualities for this role. The successful candidate will also contribute positively to maintaining a welcoming, respectful, and supportive home environment where we can thrive.
One gentleman is a keen sports enthusiast who enjoys attending live sporting events and following his favourite teams. The other has a strong interest in community participation and would like support to become involved in local groups and activities, including chess clubs, Tidy Towns initiatives, and other community-based opportunities.
