We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Quality Supervisor to lead our team of QA/QC Technicians and support the delivery of the highest standards in food safety, quality, and compliance across our manufacturing operations.
Reporting to the Quality Manager, the successful candidate will play a key role in overseeing daily quality activities, driving GMP standards, managing non-conformances and corrective actions, supporting audit readiness, and fostering a strong food safety culture throughout the site. Working closely with Production, Engineering, Warehouse, and Technical teams, you will provide leadership to QA/QC Technicians while ensuring products consistently meet customer, regulatory, and company standards.
The ideal candidate will have experience within the food manufacturing industry, a strong understanding of HACCP, GMP, and quality systems, and the ability to lead and develop teams in a fast-paced operational environment.
Experience with BRCGS, retailer standards, audit management, and root cause investigations would be highly advantageous.

Role Overview
The Quality Supervisor leads the on site QA / QC Technician team to ensure that all quality, food safety, and compliance standards are met throughout the manufacturing process. This role oversees the execution of production line checks, GMP audits, verification activities, and product reviews while driving continuous improvement through effective non conformance management and root cause investigation. The Quality Supervisor plays a key role in maintaining site audit readiness and supporting daily operational decision-making.

Key Responsibilities
-
Supervise, support, and develop QA / QC Technicians.
-
Plan workload, assign tasks, and ensure appropriate coverage across production lines.
-
Conduct training, coaching, and competency assessments for QA / QCTechnicians.
-
Conduct and review Daily GMP Audits, ensuring corrective actions are agreed, documented, and followed up.
-
Attend SIC / (relevant) Daily production meetings, providing quality input and supporting cross-functional decision-making.
-
Daily production panels ensuring compliance with specifications, labelling, and sensory expectations.
-
Perform twice weekly product reviews with Filling Line and EOL operatives, ensuring compliance with specifications, labelling, and sensory expectations.

Update and maintain glass and hard plastic registers, breakage procedures, and verification documentation. Conduct related audits as necessary.

Attend First Production Runs and participate / sign off on product evaluation.

Support site audit readiness (BRCGS, IFS, retailer audits, regulatory inspections) by maintaining accurate and up-to-date documentation.

Ensure traceability, product control, and GMP standards are consistently met across all production areas.

Quality Investigations and Reporting.

Issue Internal Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) for deviations, GMP failures, product defects, or process non-conformities.

Lead or support root cause investigations, applying structured problem-solving tools (e.g., 5 Why, Fishbone).

Ensure timely implementation and verification of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).

Communicate findings and trends to the QA Manager and relevant production teams.

Conduct X-Ray and Checkweigher Training as applicable.

Co-Ordinate Calibration of Laboratory Equipment when due with Maintenance.

Responsible for training EOL Operatives on product Quality Checks.

Co-Ordinate Annual Cleaning Validation with Deputy Quality Manager.

Participate in Site Audits.

Participate in Audit Traceability Exercise.

Cover for Thermal Process Technologist.

Work collaboratively with Production, Engineering, Warehouse, and Technical functions to resolve quality issues.

Support quality improvement projects and contribute to site KPI performance, including complaints, right-first-time, and audit scores.

Promote a strong quality culture and ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene expectations at all times.

Participate in Food Safety Culture Activities.
Personal Competencies and Qualifications

Degree or diploma in Food Science or similar field.

Experience in a Quality role within the food manufacturing industry (supervisory experience preferred).

Strong understanding of food safety standards, GMP, HACCP principles, and quality systems.

Experience with BRCGS, retailer standards, or thirdparty audit frameworks.

Experience leading teams or mentoring staff in an operational environment.

Strong communication, interpersonal, and problemsolving skills.
