Catering Supervisor
Reports To
You will report to the Food and Beverage Manager, or any other such person as directed by Airport management. This reporting situation may change as the organisation responds to ongoing change and business requirements.
Purpose of Post
The Catering Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day catering operations, ensuring high standards of food quality, customer service, hygiene, efficiency and staff performance.
Responsibilities include:
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the kitchen, bar, and service areas, ensuring the highest standards of food quality, customer service, and operational efficiency.
- Regularly tour all operational areas, engaging with colleagues and customers to identify, address, and resolve any immediate issues.
- Assist management with the quarterly planning, development, and costing of catering menus to meet customer expectations and business objectives.
- Support the preparation of staff rosters and allocate duties to ensure operational requirements are met while maintaining cost-effective staffing levels.
- Supervise, motivate, coach, and support catering staff throughout shifts, promoting a positive and productive working environment.
- Ensure all staff receive appropriate training and are competent in their assigned duties, with particular emphasis on food safety, customer service, cash handling, security procedures, and company policies.
- Monitor stock levels and assist with the ordering of food, beverages, and operational supplies to maintain service continuity.
- Ensure full compliance with all relevant food safety legislation, including HACCP requirements, and maintain the highest standards of hygiene and cleanliness.
- Ensure all operational manuals, records, documentation, and statutory compliance requirements are accurately completed and maintained in line with company policies and legal obligations.
- Ensure all financial transactions are processed in accordance with company procedures and that cash and other funds are accurately controlled and reconciled.
- Assist in monitoring departmental budgets, controlling operational costs, and implementing waste reduction initiatives.
- Prepare and provide management reports as required, ensuring accurate and timely operational information.
- Foster a workplace culture that promotes safety, exceptional customer service, teamwork, accountability, and flexibility.
- Ensure all health and safety concerns and maintenance issues are identified, documented, and reported in accordance with company procedures.
- Ensure all catering staff are familiar with and capable of carrying out their responsibilities under the Emergency Crash Orders and Security Contingency Plans.
- Undertake any other duties commensurate with the level and responsibilities of the role as required by management.
Position Requirements:
Applicants should be able to demonstrate some / all of the skills or experience below:
- At least 5 years operational experience in a fast-paced food service environment
- Previous experience in a supervisory/team management role
- Commercially aware with hands-on experience managing stock and budgets Ability to lead, co-ordinate, and motivate a focused team
- Is a self motivated, self starter who demonstrates a consistent “can do approach”
- Is reliable, trustworthy, dedicated to maintaining high quality standards and achieving company results
- Is an effective communicator at all levels both inside and outside the organisation
- Good problem solving and analytical skills
- Ability to work under pressure to tight deadline.
