Job Summary
We're seeking an experienced Construction Estimator to prepare accurate, competitive cost estimates for construction projects from bid through award. You'll analyse drawings and specifications, perform quantity takeoffs, and build detailed cost proposals that support profitable project wins.
Key Responsibilities
Review construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents to define full project scope
Perform quantity takeoffs for materials, labor, and equipment
Prepare detailed cost estimates covering labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and overhead
Solicit, evaluate, and level bids from subcontractors and suppliers
Identify cost-saving opportunities and value engineering alternatives
Assess project risks, site conditions, and schedule constraints that could impact cost
Prepare and submit complete, on-time bid proposals
Attend pre-bid meetings, site walks, and bid clarifications
Track historical costs and current material/labor pricing trends
Collaborate with project managers, architects, and engineers during preconstruction
Maintain organised bid files, estimate logs, and documentation for awarded and lost bids
Assist in contract negotiations and buyout after award, as needed
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or related field (or equivalent field experience)
5+ years of estimating experience in commercial/residential/industrial construction
Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff) and Excel
Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and sequencing
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and structural/MEP drawings
Excellent analytical, organisational, and time-management skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills for client and vendor negotiations
Preferred
Familiarity with local building codes, permitting processes, and industry standards
Experience with specific project types (e.g., commercial, housing, heavy civil.
Pay: €65,000.00-€80,000.00 per year
