Role Overview:
We are seeking a commercially astute and technically minded M&E Quantity Surveyor to join our growing commercial team. In this role, you will hold financial responsibility for a varied portfolio of Mechanical and Electrical projects. Working closely with our engineering and project delivery teams, you will manage everything from initial cost planning and procurement through to final accounts, ensuring maximum commercial return while mitigating risk.
Key Responsibilities:
· Commercial Management: Take full financial control of assigned M&E projects, monitoring budgets, cash flow, and overall profitability.
· Procurement & Subcontractor Management: Formulate sub-contract tender packages for specialized M&E trades. Evaluate returns, negotiate commercial terms, and finalize robust contract agreements.
· Variations & Change Control: Identify, price, negotiate, and agree on variations/design changes with clients and consultants promptly to protect project margins. Attending site meetings, inspections, walkdowns, and progress reviews as required.
· Valuations & Variations: Prepare and submit monthly valuations, progress applications, and final accounts. Ensure timely payment certificates and cash collection.
· Cost Reporting: Produce accurate monthly Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs) and financial forecasts for review with the Commercial Director.
· Risk & Value Engineering: Analyse project risks and identify opportunities for value engineering to reduce costs without compromising quality or design intent.
· Contractual Awareness: Provide clear guidance to the project delivery team on contract conditions to safeguard the business against disputes or delays.
Qualifications & Experience:
The role is open to QS professionals with construction or infrastructure experience.
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in an M&E Quantity Surveyor or Project Quantity Surveyor role.
- Experience managing multiple M&E projects simultaneously.
- Strong understanding of subcontractor accounts, valuations, variations, and claims management.
- Experience working for a contractor, main contractor, or specialist M&E contractor.
- Excellent commercial awareness and financial management skills.
- Strong organisational skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Familiarity with Health & Safety regulations, construction standards, and building codes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, and project management software.
