Job Title: Drawing Office Manager
Job Summary
The Drawing Office Manager supports the drawing office and engineering teams in managing technical drawings for precast concrete elements and reinforcement detailing. The role focuses on controlling drawing revisions, coordinating information between design, production, and quality departments, and ensuring that the latest approved drawings are available for manufacturing and site use.
Key Responsibilities
- Schedule drawings and issue dates for all the projects
- Prepare and issue weekly Drawing Office performance reports summarizing drawing progress across all active projects.
- Track and follow up on GA drawing comments and approvals from architects and engineers.
- Ensure that comments received from design teams are incorporated into updated drawings and that revised drawings are re-issued accordingly.
- Maintain and control drawing registers and revision records.
- Coordinate the flow of precast concrete and reinforcement drawings between the drawing office, engineering team, and production departments.
- Proactively follow up with architects, engineers, and consultants for drawing comments and approvals to avoid project delays.
- Track drawing revisions and communicate any changes to relevant departments (production, quality, planning).
- Assist in issuing shop drawings, reinforcement drawings, and fabrication details.
- Ensure that production teams receive the latest approved drawings before manufacturing begins.
- Support the drawing office in preparing drawing packs for manufacturing and site installation.
- Monitor drawing status (Issued for Approval, Approved, Issued for Construction, Revision updates, etc.).
- Assist with document control procedures for technical drawings and project documentation.
- Liaise with design engineers, project managers, architects, and production supervisors to ensure drawings meet project and production requirements.
- Maintain drawing databases and electronic filing systems.
- Assist in verifying that reinforcement schedules and elements match production requirements.
- Support coordination between design, reinforcement yard, mould preparation, and production planning.
Skills and Competencies
- Basic understanding of technical drawings, GA drawings, reinforcement drawings, and construction documentation.
- Familiarity with drawing software such as Allplan, AutoCAD, or similar (advantage).
- Good understanding of drawing approval processes and revision control.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
- Effective communication skills for interacting with architects, engineers, and internal departments.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Education and Experience
- Previous experience in precast concrete, reinforcement detailing, construction, or manufacturing is an advantage.
- Experience working with technical drawings, GA drawings, or project documentation.
