Junior SQL Developer
We are seeking a SQL Developer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, managing, and optimising relational databases to ensure high availability, reliability, and efficiency.
You will work closely with software developers, data analysts, and system administrators to build, maintain, and improve structured database solutions. The ideal candidate will have SQL experience, a solid understanding of database performance tuning, and proven query optimisation skills.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Write efficient SQL queries, stored procedures, and functions.
- Ensure database security, backups, and disaster recovery plans are in place.
- Perform indexing, query tuning, and database optimisation.
- Develop and maintain ETL processes.
- Work with developers to integrate SQL databases with applications.
- Monitor database performance and troubleshoot issues.
- Ensure data integrity and consistency across multiple environments.
- Automate database maintenance tasks using scripts.
- Stay up to date with SQL best practices and database technologies.
Requirements and Skills
- Some proficiency in SQL and relational database management systems.
- Experience with MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or DB2 databases.
- Knowledge of query optimisation and performance tuning.
- Familiarity with database security, authentication, and encryption.
- Experience with ETL tools and data warehousing concepts.
- Proficiency in stored procedures, triggers, and indexing strategies.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Familiarity with BI tools such as Power BI, Qliksense.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and database automation.
- Excellent communication and team collaboration abilities.
