Verizon's Strategic Sourcing organisation is seeking a dynamic professional to join our growing Sourcing team within the Indirect Sourcing category. Your key focus will be defining and implementing optimal cost structures and contracting frameworks that enable our enterprise to deliver transformational and exceptional services, driving continuous cost savings and revenue generation. Success here requires a fearless, proactive professional who brings an expert blend of vision and tactical execution, powerful analytical capabilities, and master negotiation skills. You will command respect as a trusted adviser to internal executive clients and stand your ground as an invaluable, strategic partner to external global suppliers.
What you’ll be doing...
Guiding internal business partners and cross-functional teams through the end-to-end acquisition and supplier selection process.
Negotiating commercial terms for new agreements and amendments to existing contracts, balancing cost, efficiency, and quality.
Leading various Cross-Functional Teams (CFTs) to establish consensus on commercial approaches and translate business needs into specific requirements.
Providing deep market analysis, alternative scenario modelling, and pricing recommendations to optimise line costs.
Serving as a Trusted Adviser to internal business units by managing expectations through structured touchpoints and resolving complex commercial issues.
Overseeing contract performance, spend analysis, renewals, and terminations while working closely with legal and regulatory affairs.
Formulating concise business cases for Operational Reviews and representing Verizon at industry forums, including travelling as required.
What we’re looking for
You’ll need to have:
A university degree or equivalent relevant work experience.
Experience in supply chain strategic sourcing, specifically within indirect categories.
Experience in people management, including leading and developing a team.
To be considered for this role, applicants must already hold a valid right to work in Ireland. We are currently unable to support employment permit sponsorship.
Even better if you have:
Strong proficiency in prioritising multiple simultaneous projects and executing flawlessly under tight timelines.
High comfort operating independently in an ambiguous environment—actively taking initiative, navigating complex challenges on your own, and serving as a self-reliant champion for the business unit.
Demonstrated ability to influence decision-makers, act as the "Voice of the Business Unit," and navigate complex matrix environments with high autonomy.
Comfort working seamlessly up and across a large organisation—collaborating equally well with front-line employees and senior executive staff.
Proven competency in strategic thinking, such as designing co-funding models or establishing high-competency skill sets within a Centre of Excellence (COE).
A strict record of handling extremely confidential information appropriately alongside sharp attention to detail regarding deadlines and compliance.
A Master’s degree, a Business degree in Supply Chain/Engineering, or ideally an MBA.
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute.
Lean Six Sigma certification/experience.
Background in Accounting or Finance (academic or professional); experience developing financial business cases and managing budgets.
