We are seeking a motivated and reliable Dairy Farm Assistant to join a progressive dairy farm in Ireland. This is a full-time, permanent position offering the opportunity to work in a modern farming environment with excellent facilities and equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Milking dairy cows and operating the milking parlour.
- Feeding and watering livestock.
- Calf rearing and assisting during the calving season.
- Monitoring animal health and welfare and reporting concerns.
- Safely moving and handling livestock.
- Cleaning and maintaining milking equipment and farm facilities.
- Maintaining high standards of hygiene, biosecurity and animal welfare.
- Assisting with grassland management, fencing and general farm maintenance.
- Operating tractors and farm machinery where appropriately trained.
- Carrying out other duties associated with the efficient operation of the dairy farm.
Requirements
- Previous practical experience working on a dairy farm.
- Good knowledge of dairy farming practices and animal husbandry.
- Experience with milking systems and livestock handling.
- Reliable, hardworking and physically fit.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills and a strong work ethic.
- Agricultural qualification is an advantage but not essential where relevant experience has been obtained.
