The Burnaby Family Practice is a brand-new GP practice opening in the heart of Greystones, Co. Wicklow. We are looking for a friendly, organised Medical Secretary to join us from the start and help shape how the practice runs from day one.
About the role
You will be the first point of contact for our patients and the organisational backbone of the practice. Day-to-day duties include:
- Greeting patients and managing the front desk
- Answering phones, scheduling and managing appointments
- Patient registrations and maintaining accurate records
- Processing referral letters, correspondence and results
- Liaising with hospitals, pharmacies, the HSE and other healthcare providers
- Billing, payments and GMS/private claims administration
- General administrative support to the GP and practice team
About you
- Previous experience as a Medical Secretary or in a GP/healthcare setting is ideal
- We also warmly welcome candidates with strong administrative, secretarial or customer-facing experience from other industries — full training on medical systems will be provided
- Excellent communication skills with a friendly, discreet manner
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Comfortable with IT systems (practice management software an advantage, not essential)
- Absolute commitment to patient confidentiality
- Reliable, flexible and able to work on your own initiative
