Working days and hours (Blackrock College):
Week 1: Monday and Tuesday – 8:15am to 5:30pm (17 hours 30 minutes)
Week 2: Wednesday – 8:15am to 5:00pm, Thursday – 8:15am to 5:30pm, Friday
– 8:15am to 4:30pm (24 hours 45 minutes)
Average weekly hours (Blackrock College): 21 hours per week (30min lunches are unpaid)
Hourly rate: €26 gross per hour from September to May. Holiday pay at a rate of 8% of hours worked will be paid in addition to this.
Potential additional hours (Willow Park School): There is potential for this role to become a full‑time position by adding 15.5 hours per week (September to May) through work in Willow Park School.
Willow Park working hours: Your normal working hours will be from 8:15am to 4:30pm, two days per week (Monday and Tuesday or Thursday and Friday, depending on the working week at Blackrock College).
Total working hours in Willow Park: 15 hours 30 minutes per week (30min lunches are unpaid).
Main duties and responsibilities
1. Accident and emergency attention for members of the school community, i.e. students, staff, and visitors that may be required during the school day
2. Provide healthcare to students, staff, visitors that may be required during the school day.
3. Perform health screenings
4. Medical care for the Boarders which includes the following:
· Seeing the boys in the Castle Medical Centre;
· Liaison with the Director of Boarders/House masters/Deans on treatment of the Boarders viz-a-vis: attendance at class, medication, going home, events
· Liaison with the Parents of Boarders in the event of illness
· Retention of detailed records of visits, mediation and treatment
· Organise where it is necessary for the boys to see the Doctor who visits the College twice weekly and arrange appointments in Doctor’s Blackrock Surgery where necessary
· To have responsibility for all medicines, inhalers etc. and to liaise with the Pharmacy (Macken’s Blackrock)
· To complete risk assessments and care plans for students with medical needs and conditions
· To undertake any duties, which may from time to time be delegated by the Principal or the Director of Boarding.
5. Liaison with Deans, parents and emergency services in the event of accident or injury
6. Responsibility for issue of First Aid Boxes and contents to the Deans
7. To keep up-to-date records of all students’ medical conditions/requirements
8. To offer medical support and advice to residential staff members and administer treatment where necessary
9. To keep records of all treatments and visits to the clinic
10. Undertake various administrative tasks within the scope of the post
11. Carry out any duties which may from time to time be delegated by the Principal
