Role Overview
Senior Electrical Buyer will lead the sourcing and procurement of electrical components within our manufacturing operations. This role is critical in driving cost efficiencies, securing reliable supply chains, and supporting engineering and production teams with high-quality materials. The successful candidate will bring strong technical understanding, strategic sourcing expertise, and leadership capability within a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the procurement of electrical components including cables, cladding & insulation, switchgear, PLCrelated hardware, control systems, sensors, and electronic assemblies.
Develop and execute sourcing strategies aligned with business objectives and production requirements.
Collaborate with engineering and production teams to align procurement with technical specifications and project timelines.
Mentor and support junior buyers and procurement staff as required.
Lead or contribute to crossfunctional projects, including new product introductions (NPI) and supplier onboarding.
3. Procurement & Commercial Duties
Negotiate complex supplier agreements, contracts, and pricing structures to deliver cost savings and value.
Drive supplier rationalisation and costreduction programmes without compromising quality or delivery.
Analyse market trends, risks, and opportunities within the electrical supply chain to inform decisionmaking.
Develop commercial strategies that support longterm business goals and operational efficiency.
4. Technical Responsibilities
Work closely with engineering teams to ensure purchased components meet required technical specifications.
Understand electrical systems, assemblies, and component requirements to support accurate sourcing and supplier selection.
Support technical evaluations during supplier onboarding and NPI activities.
5. Supplier Relationship Management
Build, manage, and develop strategic supplier partnerships.
Conduct supplier performance reviews and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Manage supplier risk, quality issues, and delivery performance to ensure supply chain stability.
6. Inventory & Logistics Coordination
Oversee inventory planning strategies to balance availability with workingcapital targets.
Ensure longlead electrical items are forecasted and ordered in line with project schedules.
Support logistics and warehouse teams in managing inbound supply and stock accuracy.
7. Compliance & Governance
Ensure compliance with company procurement policies, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
Support internal and external audits as required.
Promote ethical sourcing and adherence to sustainability standards.
Key Requirements

Significant experience in a purchasing or procurement role within a manufacturing environment, with a focus on electrical components.

Strong technical knowledge of electrical systems and components used in manufacturing.

Proven track record of delivering cost savings and managing supplier relationships at a strategic level.

Advanced negotiation and contract management skills.

Experience working with ERP/MRP systems and strong data analysis capability (Excel or equivalent tools).

Strong leadership, mentoring, and stakeholder management skills.
