Job Title: Accounts Assistant Receivable
Location: Midlands Park Hotel, Portlaoise, County Laois
Reports to: Assistant Financial Controller
Overview:
Midlands Park Hotel is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Income Audit Accounts Assistant to join our finance team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, reviewing income streams, and supporting the accounting functions of the hotel. Key Responsibilities:
Income Auditing:
- Perform daily income audits by reviewing revenue reports, verifying income, and reconciling discrepancies.
- Ensure that all revenue streams (rooms, F&B, banquets, spa, etc.) are accurately accounted for and documented.
- Investigate variances between expected and actual income, resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Prepare daily and monthly income audit reports for management review.
Financial Reporting:
- Assist in preparing and maintaining accurate financial records and reports.
- Support the month-end and year-end close processes by providing accurate income audit reports.
- Assist in the preparation of VAT returns and other regulatory financial filings.
Accounts Support:
- Assist the finance team with general accounting duties, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and reconciliations.
- Assist in bank reconciliations, credit card reconciliations, and cash management.
Compliance and Best Practices:
- Ensure compliance with internal financial controls and accounting policies.
- Maintain confidentiality of financial data and adhere to hotel policies.
Collaboration:
- Work closely with the hotel’s finance, operations, and management teams to improve financial procedures and reporting accuracy.
- Assist with ad-hoc financial projects and tasks as needed.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Previous experience in an accounting or finance role, preferably within the hospitality industry.
- Qualification in Accounting.
- Knowledge of income auditing processes and accounting principles.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills with a high attention to detail.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Desirable Skills:
- Previous experience in hotel finance or income auditing would be an advantage.
- Experience using hotel property management systems (PMS) and point-of-sale (POS) systems is a plus.
- Accounting Qualification required
