We are currently seeking an experienced Electrical Substation Construction Supervisor to join our growing infrastructure team. The role can be based from our Limerick or Ashbourne depot and will oversee the safe and efficient delivery of substation construction and refurbishment projects across the region.
This position is ideal for an experienced utilities or electrical construction professional with a strong background in high-voltage infrastructure, site supervision, and team leadership. You will work closely with the Contracts Manager to coordinate site operations, manage project resources, and ensure all works are completed safely, on time, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise construction and refurbishment works on electrical substations, including trenching, ducting, cabling, and associated civil works.
Ensure all activities comply with Health & Safety, environmental, and company procedures.
Carry out site assessments to determine labour, plant, traffic management, and resource requirements.
Coordinate material deliveries to ensure project schedules are maintained.
Support the procurement and management of subcontractors where required.
Monitor project progress and provide regular updates to the Contracts Manager.
Maintain accurate site records, work schedules, and project documentation.
Manage site teams and provide technical guidance to ensure efficient project delivery.
Coordinate construction sequencing to maximise productivity while maintaining safety standards.
Promote company values, quality standards, and continuous improvement across all projects.
Requirements
Previous experience supervising electrical infrastructure or utility construction projects.
Strong understanding of HV, MV, and LV electrical networks.
Experience working on live substations or similar high-voltage environments.
Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
Knowledge of civil engineering and utility construction practices.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple site activities.
Experience acting as a PSCS Representative is advantageous.
Confident mentoring and supporting site teams.
Essential Qualifications
Safe Pass
IOSH, CIF Managing Safety in Construction (MSIC), or equivalent
Manual Handling Certificate
Full clean driving licence
Fluent spoken and written English
Desirable Qualifications
CSCS Signing, Lighting & Guarding at Roadworks
CSCS Location of Underground Services
Occupational First Aid certification
