The Opportunity
ACS Drives & Control Systems Ltd. is seeking capable and motivated Field Service Engineers / Electricians to join our expanding engineering and service teams.
ACS supports many of Ireland’s essential industries, including pharmaceutical manufacturing, food and beverage, data centres, utilities, water infrastructure and heavy process environments. We design, commission, maintain and support Variable Speed Drive, motor control, Power Quality and Condition-Based Monitoring systems across the full equipment lifecycle.
This is a practical, customer-facing engineering role involving site-based fieldwork, workshop activity, technical support, commissioning, diagnostics, retrofit work and project support.
A strong customer-facing manner is central to the role. The successful candidates must be able to communicate clearly, represent ACS professionally, build trust with customers and work well as part of a wider technical team.
The role will involve regular customer-site visits across Ireland, workshop activity, hands-on training and project work at ACS Mullingar, and remote technical support depending on project stage, capability and experience level.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, commission, maintain and support low-voltage Variable Speed Drive systems across industrial, utility and process applications.
- Carry out diagnostic testing, fault-finding and troubleshooting on LV control circuits, motor systems, drives, instrumentation and related equipment.
- Complete panel modifications, retrofit work, control system upgrades and electrical modifications to agreed specifications.
- Support site surveys, RAMS, LV system condition reports, commissioning documentation, maintenance reports and asset register updates.
- Deliver Service Level Agreement support to key customers, helping to minimise downtime and improve operational reliability.
- Provide technical support on-site, remotely and through the ACS Technical Support structure.
- Work collaboratively with customers, contractors, integrators, OEM representatives and internal ACS teams.
- Support FAT/SAT preparation, commissioning support, system validation and handover.
- Participate in an on-call rota where required as capability and business needs develop, with applicable on-call rates paid.
- Work in line with ACS quality, environmental and Occupational Health and Safety procedures.

We are seeking qualified Electrical Engineers or Electricians who are technically capable, practical, reliable and comfortable working in customer-facing environments.

The successful candidates should have:
- a recognised electrical qualification as an Electrical Engineer or Electrician;
- relevant experience in industrial, utilities, pharmaceutical, food and beverage, data centre, manufacturing or heavy process environments;
- hands-on experience with LV control systems, motors, drives, instrumentation and electrical fault-finding;
- confidence reading and interpreting electrical schematics and technical documentation;
- experience with diagnostics, control circuit testing, commissioning support, panel modifications or retrofit work;
- familiarity with ABB, Schneider, Siemens, Danfoss or similar OEM products would be an advantage;
- awareness of Power Quality, harmonics, active filters, EMC compliance, Condition-Based Monitoring or MV systems would be an advantage;
- strong written and verbal communication skills;
