Cross Agricultural Engineering is expanding, and we're looking for Graduate Design Engineers to join our growing design team.
This is an exciting opportunity for a recent engineering graduate who wants to work on real engineering projects from day one. At Cross, you'll design machinery that's manufactured in our own factory, giving you the unique opportunity to see your ideas develop from an initial concept through to a finished machine.
Unlike many graduate roles, you'll gain hands-on experience across the complete design process while working closely with experienced engineers and our production team.

Cross Agricultural Engineering is one of Ireland's leading manufacturers of agricultural, biogas, commercial and food processing machinery. Every machine is designed, manufactured and supported from our headquarters in Rathangan, Co. Kildare.
Our recently expanded engineering department features a modern purpose-built design office equipped with high-performance workstations running SolidWorks. Working alongside our manufacturing facility allows our engineers to collaborate directly with production, ensuring designs are practical, efficient and built to the highest standards.
The Role
As a Graduate Design Engineer, you'll become part of our engineering team and work on a wide variety of design projects.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Designing and developing new machinery and improving existing products.
- Producing 3D models, assemblies and manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks.
- Working closely with the workshop to ensure designs are practical and manufacturable.
- Updating engineering drawings and CAD data throughout the development process.
- Creating parts books, user manuals and technical documentation.
- Assisting with product development, testing and continuous improvement.
This role offers genuine responsibility from the beginning, with the opportunity to see your designs progress from your computer screen to the factory floor.
What We're Looking For
- NFQ Level 7 or Level 8 Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Agricultural Engineering or a related discipline.
- Experience using CAD software as part of your degree (SolidWorks experience is an advantage).
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
- Good computer literacy, including Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of engineering drawings and manufacturing processes is desirable.
- Technical writing experience is an advantage but not essential.
- Must be eligible to work in Ireland without requiring a work permit.
