Manufacturing bespoke furniture for over 40 years, our talented team of craftspeople have manufactured furniture for hotels, bars, restaurants, cafés and nightclubs across Ireland and across the globe in many other countries, such as the USA, the UK, France, Portugal, Australia, UAE, Denmark, Belgium and many more.
We are seeking an Experienced Furniture Sprayer Foreman to join our team.
Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum 10+ years’ experience in a similar managerial role, working as part of a team in a busy manufacturing facility.
- Proven experience with spray guns and finishing equipment.
- Strong knowledge of wood finishing systems, including lacquers, stains, sealers and water-based finishes.
- Familiarity with custom or high-end furniture finishing.
- Must have excellent craftsmanship and attention to detail when it comes to colour matching and surface quality.
- Experience working with bespoke and high-end furniture is desirable.
- Ability to prepare and finish surfaces to a very high standard.
- Ability to work efficiently as an individual and as part of a team.
- Ability to read production drawings, work orders, and finishing specifications.
- Strong understanding of production processes and quality standards.
- Ability to lead, motivate, and support a small production team.
- Good planning and organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads.
- Good understanding of Health & Safety requirements, including the safe handling of paints, solvents, and finishing materials.
- Ability to follow health and safety guidelines.
- Physically fit and capable of handling furniture components safely.
Duties & Responsibilities
Production & Finishing
- Carry out spraying, polishing, staining, lacquering, and finishing work to the highest quality standards.
- Prepare timber surfaces for spraying (sanding, priming, masking).
- Mix paints, stains, and lacquers accurately to achieve required colours and finishes.
- Apply finishes to achieve consistent colour, sheen, and surface quality.
- Inspect finished products to ensure they meet company and customer quality standards.
- Rework or rectify defects where required.
Department Supervision
- Lead the day-to-day activities of the Spraying, Polishing, and Lacquer Department.
- Allocate work and monitor progress to ensure production schedules are achieved.
- Provide guidance, training, and support to team members.
- Ensure work is completed efficiently while maintaining high quality standards.
- Assist the Production Manager in planning workloads and meeting customer deadlines.
Quality & Continuous Improvement
- Monitor finishing quality throughout the production process.
- Reduce rework through proactive quality checks.
- Identify opportunities to improve finishing techniques, efficiency, and material usage.
- Work closely with the Quality team to resolve production issues.
Equipment & Maintenance
- Ensure spray guns, polishing equipment, spray booths, extraction systems, and associated equipment are maintained and cleaned.
- Report equipment faults promptly and coordinate repairs where required.
- Monitor stock levels of paints, stains, lacquers, abrasives, and consumables.
Health & Safety
- Ensure safe working practices are followed at all times.
- Enforce the correct use of PPE.
- Ensure paints, solvents, and chemicals are stored and handled safely.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and compliant working environment.
- Promote good housekeeping standards within the department.
Reporting To: Production Manager
Hours: 39 hours per week (5 Days Per Week | Mon – Thurs : 8.30am – 5.30pm | Fri : 8.30am – 4.00pm)
Location: Clontibret, Co. Monaghan
Salary: Attractive Salary Negotiable - Depending on Experience
Annual Leave: 20 days per year (Fixed 2 Week Closure during Summer) + 10 paid public holidays
Sick Pay: Statutory Sick Pay provided in line with the Sick Leave Act 2022.
Pension Scheme: From 1st January 2026, employees with be enrolled into the Auto-Enrolment Scheme, provided they meet the statutory requirements with contributions made by McGuigan Furniture and Government Top-Up.
Bonus: Weekly Attendance Bonus applies if conditions are met.
Overtime: Overtime is available and sometimes expected, depending on deadlines.
