Overview
An AC Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing air conditioning systems in residential, commercial, and industrial environments. The role requires strong technical knowledge, problem‑solving skills, and adherence to safety standards to ensure systems operate efficiently and safely.
Key Responsibilities
1. Installation of AC Systems
- Install split units, window units, VRF/VRV systems, and central air conditioning systems.
- Connect electrical wiring, refrigerant lines, and drainage systems.
- Ensure installations comply with manufacturer specifications and safety regulations.
2. Maintenance and Servicing
- Perform routine inspections to identify wear, leaks, or malfunctioning components.
- Clean coils, filters, blowers, and ducts to maintain system efficiency.
- Check refrigerant levels and recharge systems when necessary.
- Lubricate motors and replace belts, sensors, and filters.
3. Troubleshooting and Repairs
- Diagnose faults using tools such as multimeters, gauges, and leak detectors.
- Repair or replace compressors, motors, thermostats, fans, and electrical components.
- Fix refrigerant leaks and ensure proper system pressure.
4. Safety and Compliance
- Follow all health and safety procedures, including safe handling of refrigerants.
- Comply with environmental regulations related to refrigerant recovery and disposal.
- Maintain clean, safe work areas and use appropriate PPE.
5. Customer Service
- Communicate clearly with clients about issues, repair options, and maintenance needs.
- Provide accurate cost estimates and explain work performed.
- Offer guidance on energy‑efficient usage and system care.
6. Documentation
- Complete service reports, maintenance logs, and repair records.
- Track parts used and report inventory needs.
- Document refrigerant usage in compliance with environmental laws.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems and refrigeration cycles.
- Ability to read wiring diagrams, blueprints, and technical manuals.
- Skilled in electrical diagnostics and mechanical repairs.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Physical ability to lift heavy equipment and work in confined spaces.
- Attention to detail and commitment to safety.
Qualifications
- Certificate or diploma in HVAC, Refrigeration, or Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience with residential, commercial, or industrial AC systems.
- Valid driver’s license
The role may require overtime, emergency call‑outs, and travel between job sites.
Pay: €45,000.00-€70,000.00 per year
