Role Summary
Is the next step in your career at SMBC Group EMEA? We’re looking for a Security Automation Engineer for Security Architecture & Engineering to join our team.
The Security Architecture and Engineering team is responsible for the technical support and management of specific Information Security elements of the Bank’s global IT platform, supporting colleagues in ITSD to ensure the confidentiality, integrity and availability of the Bank’s systems and information. The Security Automation Engineer facilitates the review, design and implementation of security related control changes, identifying opportunities for automation in existing manual process.
Role responsibilities:
Design, develop and implement security automation solutions to mitigate security risks and improve existing system interactions across product and infrastructure teams.
Design and integrate security solutions into new and existing pipelines across the business.
Manage security policy through automation and Infrastructure/Policy as code.
Candidate requirements:
Strong understanding of Information Security principles. Such as network, Infrastructure and Endpoint security principles.
Experience operating security controls across a variety of domains.
Proficiency in scripting technologies for task automation such as, but not necessarily limited to, PowerShell, Python, Bash etc.
Experience of working with Infrastructure as Code.
Knowledge of how Policy as Code concepts can be leveraged to drive automation and efficiencies.

Position Description
The Security Automation Engineer is a technical resource within ITSD focused on facilitating security control figuration management and changes (such as Firewall policy), with a particular priority placed upon building automation solutions instead of processing change manually wherever possible. This position is critical to the core business functions of the Bank, it requires a strong and broad technical skillset, exemplary communication skills and the capacity to effectively balance operational support and strategic project requirements as part of a team.
The role involves a large amount of collaboration and communication at all levels throughout the wider business on a global scale to not only safeguard confidential data but provide a platform to enable the business to function. If security systems suffer from service outages, all teams throughout the bank are at risk of potential impact, therefore uptime of responsible systems to enable secure business operations is of upmost priority.
