Wag n Tails Pet Shop is one of the Midlands' leading independent pet retailers, and we're looking for an enthusiastic Retail Sales Assistant to join our growing team.
This isn't just another retail job. We're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys talking to customers, has an interest in pet care and nutrition, and wants to help us deliver the best possible experience every day.

What you'll be doing
- Providing outstanding customer service and expert product advice.
- Helping customers choose the right food, treats and accessories for their pets.
- Recommending additional products where they genuinely benefit the customer.
- Maintaining high merchandising standards throughout the store.
- Creating attractive product and window displays.
- Keeping the store clean, organised and well-stocked.
- Receiving deliveries and safely lifting stock (up to 30kg).
- Operating our EPOS system and carrying out general retail duties.
- Working towards store KPIs including sales, average basket value and loyalty sign-ups.
- Appearing in occasional Facebook, Instagram and TikTok videos to help promote the business.
- Working primarily in our Roscommon Town store, with occasional shifts in our Ballinasloe store when required.
We're looking for someone who:
- Has previous retail experience (pet industry experience is an advantage).
- Has a genuine interest in pets, pet nutrition and animal welfare.
- Is friendly, confident and enjoys talking to customers.
- Can work independently using their own initiative.
- Is equally comfortable working as part of a team.
- Has excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Takes pride in keeping the store looking its very best.
- Is physically fit and capable of safely lifting products up to 30kg.
- Is computer literate.
- Holds a full driving licence and has access to transport.
- Is flexible to work between 20 and 40 hours per week across a seven-day rota, including weekends.
- Has a positive attitude and enjoys learning new skills.
