Job Title: Bank Recovery Worker (Addiction)

Location: Smarmore Castle, Co. Louth
Salary: €14.96 per hour, Monday to Friday and €17.95 per hour, Saturday and Sunday.
Overview
Smarmore Castle is a residential alcohol, drug and gambling rehabilitation clinic that treats alcoholism, drug and gambling addiction. Our aim is to help patients achieve abstinence through an intensive, personalised treatment programme that follows the 12 Steps, provides medically managed detoxification, addiction counselling and complementary therapies.
As part of our ongoing service development, capacity building, and commitment to continuous professional development, we are seeking to appoint a Bank Recovery Worker to join our team.
The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of 12-step recovery and is passionate about helping others in their recovery journey.
As any former patient at Smarmore Castle knows, our Recovery Workers provide key support to patients and the therapy team, working shifts and on weekends, in a key role to support our patient community. Any candidate for this role will work 12-hour shifts in a week, weekend work is required, and you must be sober for at least two years.

Requirements for the role:
- Knowledge of the Smarmore Castle Treatment programme and in-depth understanding of the 12 steps of Recovery; be competent to facilitate awareness and appreciation of this programme with the community
- Must be a competent communicator of the 12 steps programme of AA / NA / CA
- Able to assist the therapy team and the nursing team in the delivery of care
- Be a team player, flexible and responsive to the needs of the service
- Able to assist in the delivery of a high standard of care relating to all the needs of the patients, promoting their equality and dignity at all times
- Able to be trained and competent to perform basic life support and remain updated yearly in the skills necessary to provide basic life support and recognition and management of intoxication and opioid overdose
- Carry out all responsibilities with due regard to the clinic’s Equal Opportunities Policy.
Job Duties
1. Assist in the admission process when required.
2. Assist with transfer of luggage when needed.
3. Provide routine checks and walk-throughs.
4. Be available to talk with patients at all times in a courteous and respectful manner.
5. Prepare patient folders for new admissions.
6. Assist in delivering a high standard of patient care.
7. Engage with patients during meals, groups and community activities.
8. Assist with DVDs and recreational activities.
9. Facilitate non-therapeutic groups.
10. Redirect patients and address programme rule violations.
11. Escort patients on various activities and meetings.
12. Assist the medical team in locating and collecting patients.
13. Maintain campus presence.
14. Supervise entertainment nights and monitor patients.
15. Maintain competence in Basic Life Support (BLS)
16. Manage telephone and personal enquiries.
17. Perform additional duties as directed by senior staff.
