R&D Tax Credits (Scientific / Technical) - Senior Consultant

About the Role
Grant Thornton's R&D Incentives team combines tax specialists with experienced scientists, engineers and technical professionals to help innovative businesses maximise the value of Ireland's R&D tax incentives and grant funding opportunities.
We are looking for a Senior Consultant with a scientific, engineering or computer science background to join our growing R&D Incentives practice. This is an excellent opportunity to work with leading innovative businesses across a wide range of industries, combining your technical expertise with client-facing advisory work in a collaborative and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
You will:
- Work directly with clients to understand their research and development activities and assess eligibility for R&D tax incentives under Irish legislation and Revenue guidance.
- Lead technical discussions and stakeholder interviews to identify qualifying R&D activities and expenditure.
- Prepare and review high-quality technical reports and supporting documentation for Revenue and other funding bodies.
- Manage multiple client engagements, ensuring work is delivered to a high standard and within agreed deadlines.
- Build strong relationships with clients and collaborate with colleagues across tax and advisory teams.
- Assist with proposals, business development initiatives and identifying opportunities to support new and existing clients.
Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of R&D tax legislation, Revenue guidance and developments affecting innovative businesses.

Skills & Experience
The successful candidate will have:
- A degree or equivalent qualification in science, engineering, computer science or a related technical discipline.
- 1-2 years post qualification experience preparing or supporting R&D tax credit or innovation incentive claims, ideally within a professional services or advisory environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to understand complex technical projects across a range of industries.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
A proactive and collaborative approach, with a genuine interest in innovation and emerging technologies.
