Lean Site Lead

Position Overview:
The Lean Site Lead is a cross-functional leadership role for an accomplished professional who understands that sustainable improvement is built on people, culture, and trust. This position provides strategic leadership across all core areas of the business including manufacturing, quality, supply chain, R&D, and applications with a clear mandate to embed lean thinking as a shared value across every level of the organisation and support process owners in implementing this.
The successful candidate will bring a strong track record in lean transformation and continuous improvement, combined with the interpersonal skills needed to support teams on this journey.
Strong communication, influence, and change management skills are essential. This is a role for someone who supports growth and builds engagement across the business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and govern a Hoshin Kanri CI project portfolio in partnership with senior site leadership, ensuring all lean initiatives are aligned with long-term corporate objectives and tracked through robust daily, weekly, and monthly KPIs and SPC activity.
- Direct the execution of Lean Six Sigma project management across all business units, driving accountability through employee coaching, leadership development, and deployment of core lean tools (A3, DMAIC, PDCA, CAPA, 5 Whys, Kaizen, etc.).
- Manage the re-launch of the companywide LSS training academy, overseeing curriculum delivery for Yellow, Green, and Black Belt programmes and applying Toyota Kata coaching principles to build daily habits of scientific problem-solving at all levels.
- Lead structured Gemba walks, cross-functional reviews, and external benchmarking visits to surface operational gaps and capture best practices.
- Champion the strategic re-launch of the 6S programme; maintain world-class visual management standards and connect shop floor discipline with asset care through Autonomous and Preventive Maintenance support.
- Chair lean operations meetings to support and empower departmental managers and shop floor teams, fostering autonomous LSS execution aligned with the Shingo model.
- Scope and architect 'as-is' and 'to-be' value streams using VSM to identify automation, digital twin, ERP, and process optimisation opportunities; provide executive sponsorship for AI and enterprise automation initiatives.
- Deploy Pull/Kanban frameworks, optimise production scheduling, and execute inventory management controls to improve OTD, reduce lead times, and eliminate waste across the supply chain.
- Help to uphold health, safety, and environmental standards, supporting high-impact energy and sustainability projects across the site.
Qualifications/Skills:
- 10+ years' experience developing and integrating CI and Operational Excellence programmes within manufacturing environments, with a demonstrated track record of embedding behavioral change across diverse workforce demographics.
- Fully qualified Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt; Master's degree required.
- Proven ability to build and lead high-performing teams, with excellent verbal and written communication and stakeholder influencing skills.
- Working knowledge of AI systems, digital twin concepts, and automation to support factory modernisation is a prerequisite for this role.
- High proficiency in data visualisation and analytics tools including Power BI, MS Excel, and Visio; experience with ERP platforms such as JDE or SAP is an advantage.
- Experience with ISO and/or IATF 16949 certification environments background is a distinct advantage.
