TITLE: Co-Ordinator for SETU Novus Player Development Programme
REPORTING TO: SETU Arena Commercial Sports Manager
THE JOB:
Waterford/Wexford Education Training Board (WWETB) provides a wide range of training courses for those who are entering the labour market for the first time and those who wish to upskill and/or change their career path.
The SETU Novus Player Development Programme is a Local Training Initiative (LTI) that was developed by SETU Novus in cooperation with the WWETB. It incorporates the use of full-time football training to engage people in QQI accredited education with qualified and experienced tutors and coaches.
SETU Novus and WWETB have teamed up to deliver a programme targeted at early school leavers, secondary school graduates and those in receipt of payment from the Department of Social Protection, male and female, who may also be aspiring young football players.
Main Responsibilities:
Reporting to the SETU Arena Commercial Sports Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
- Co-ordinate the promotion and implementation of a full-time programme which includes football and classroom-based modules.
- Develop, review and evaluate the programme in consultation with the learners, WWETB, SETU Novus staff, external tutors and other stakeholders.
- Recruit participants for the programme to include liaising with local community groups to identify future course participants.
- Delivery of the centre programme, including curriculum development, discipline, administration of certification procedures, organisation of work experience and organisation of guidance and counselling support.
- Manage the procurement of supplies and services required for the day to day running of the programme.
- Plan, monitor and oversee all education and training activities as assigned.
- Budgeting and financial management within the framework of the WWETB.
- Ensure training complies with TQAS, QQI, ITEC quality assurance.
- Supervision of staff, staff development, team formation and leadership.
- Identify QQI accreditation opportunities and facilitate learners in pursuing and achieving a major QQI award.
- Responsible of overall management of assistant co-ordinator and course tutors.
- To undertake such other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE/SKILL SET:
The ideal candidate will have:
● A relevant recognised third level academic qualification.
● Track record of working with male and female learners over the age of 16, from marginalised and socioeconomically disadvantaged areas, and those with behavioural challenges.
● Experience of delivering and of coordinating the delivery of QQI modules at Level 5 by external staff to groups of 16-24 learners.
● Proficient in football coaching with relevant qualifications.
● Familiar with and have experience of the WWETB, TQAS and managing QQI accreditation.
● Competence in IT systems incl. MS Teams, MS Office, social media for course promotion.
● A knowledge of local and regional football structures and professional player pathways.
● Have an understanding of the promotion of Social Inclusion through Sport.
● A knowledge of the role of the local statutory and voluntary sectors in relation to sports development.
● Have An understanding of the National Framework of Qualifications, FAI Player Development Pathway and Coach Education Pathway, FAI Strategic Plans and Reviews.
● A proven qualification in and track record of athletic development, particularly at UEFA A coaching level.
● Have a recognised training qualification.
● Have proven track record in administration and excellent organisational skills.
● Possess good verbal and written communications.
