The O&M Operations Manager is responsible for the safe, efficient, and high-performing operation of the power plant, while leading and developing a skilled operations team.
Reporting to the O&M Plant Manager, you will take ownership of all day-to-day operational activities on site — from managing plant systems and operational strategies to ensuring full safety and regulatory compliance. You will work closely with the site leadership team and broader GE Vernova network to continuously improve plant performance, reliability, and efficiency, making a tangible impact on how energy is delivered in Ireland and beyond.
- Leading a high-performing operations team, developing talent, driving a strong safety culture, and delivering consistent, reliable plant performance
- Driving the optimisation of plant operating strategies to achieve greater efficiency, lower operating costs, and increased energy output
- Building and maintaining robust operational procedures, sampling programmes, and periodic testing schedules across all site equipment and systems
- Creating meaningful operational data and reporting frameworks — managing plant logs, analysing critical parameters, and proactively identifying and resolving potential issues before they escalate
- Ensuring full compliance with all environmental, health, and safety requirements, including robust management of Permit to Work and Lock-Out/Tag-Out systems
- Collaborating with GE Vernova engineering, turbine service, and support teams to resolve complex technical issues and achieve optimum outcomes during daily operations and planned outages
- Contributing to plant root cause analysis for technical events and recommending facility modifications and upgrades to enhance reliability and performance
- Available for emergency on-call duties as required at the power plant
- Able to provide absence duty coverage for the O&M Plant Manager when needed
- Site-based role operating on standard working hours at our Tarbert, Ireland facility
You should be a technically strong and people-focused leader, with a genuine passion for operational excellence and a commitment to safety, with:
- Substantive experience in an industrial or power generation environment, ideally in an operations management or senior supervisory role
- The capability to lead, motivate, and develop a team — delivering high performance through clear direction, coaching, and accountability
- An expertise in plant operations, including knowledge of operational procedures, equipment systems, and performance management practices
- The ability to drive change and deliver measurable improvements in operational efficiency and productivity
- Strong communication skills — both written and verbal — with the confidence to engage effectively with internal teams, customers, and senior stakeholders
- A proven track record of managing safety-critical systems and ensuring compliance with EHS standards and regulatory requirements
- Experience with GE Aeroderivative Power Plants is a distinct advantage, though not essential
A formal education and subsequent University Bachelor or Master's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Controls Engineering, or a related discipline are nice to have, but we are most interested in your total experience and professional achievements.
This is a permanent, site-based position located at our Tarbert, Ireland facility, operating on standard working hours.
