Job Profile
The ideal applicant for this role will have a friendly, enthusiastic, and caring approach, with the ability to engage residents in meaningful activities that enhance their wellbeing and quality of life. The successful candidate will be able to work both independently and as part of a team, demonstrate excellent communication skills, and bring a positive, hands-on attitude to the role.
Duties Include (but are not limited to):

Plan, organise, and facilitate a variety of social, recreational, and therapeutic activities for residents

Encourage resident participation and support individual interests and preferences

Assist in creating activity programmes that promote physical, emotional, cognitive, and social wellbeing

Support residents during group and one-to-one activities

Maintain accurate records of activities and resident participation

Assist with special events, celebrations, outings, and seasonal activities

Liaise with residents, families, and staff to identify suitable activities and interests

Ensure activity areas and equipment are clean, safe, and well maintained
-
Support residents in a respectful, dignified, and person-centred manner

Follow all company policies and procedures, including health and safety requirements

Be prepared to carry out additional duties relevant to the role as required
Requirements
-
Available to work flexible hours as required by the roster

Previous experience in an social care role, healthcare setting, nursing home, or similar environment is desirable

A genuine interest in working with older persons
-
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
-
Ability to motivate and engage residents with varying abilities and interests
-
Creative, energetic, and organised approach to activity planning
-
Good record-keeping and administrative skills
-
Ability to work effectively as part of a team and on own initiative

Awareness of person-centred care principles
-
QQI Level 5 in Healthcare Support, Social Care, Recreational Studies, or a related qualification would be an advantage
