We have an exciting opportunity for a Quality Officer to join our Technical team O'Brien Fine Foods facility in Timahoe, Co. Kildare., you are responsible for working closely within the Quality team in maintaining and refining the company’s QA system.
Area Description:
Our Technical team are at the heart of our business. They are responsible for ensuring we produce high quality and safe products for our Customers and Consumers while complying with all Legislative and Regulatory requirements for Food Processing. They aim to maintain our Quality Assurance Culture and Health and Safety Culture with all staff of O’Brien Fine Foods which is continually reviewed for effectiveness and improvement. The key objective is to have all staff empowered and taking ownership for Quality and Health and Safety. They lead all stages of product development and delivery including idea, creative development, consumer testing, customer approval and execution.
Responsibilities:
- Drive quality in low risk in terms of food safety and Product Quality resulting in improved 5S results, external audit results and reduction in customer complaints and internal non conformance.
- Carrying out pre production / hygiene audits and engaging with the cleaning team to ensure the highest cleaning standards in the low risk area.
- Carrying out process and foreign body audits to reduce the number of product non conformities ensuring that all products going into our high risk area are to the required specification.
- Assist with the coaching and training of staff on the production floor.
- Provide technical support in the identification of non-compliance’s / deviations from the quality system and implement corrective actions and procedures to prevent reoccurrence
- Drive improvements in supplier performance by measuring against raw meat specifications and reporting non conformance’s.
- Investigate and close out complaints relating to the low risk area. Communicate complaints and issues back to staff members and monitor closely to ensure the issue does not arise again.
- Assist in monthly reconciliations / weekly trace exercises closing out all issues identified and ensuring that issues do not reoccur during internal or external audits.
- To work with the operations team to build in quality into our production processes to ensure we get quality right first time.
- Participate in all Quality Audits by helping to maintain or improve our current status.
Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Language Requirements
- Knowledge of meat production and hazards linked to the process.
- Basic word and Excel skills.

Desired Qualifications:
- 3rd Level Degree in Food Science
- HACCP
Previous Experience:
More than 6 months experience in a Process controller or quality role.
