Role Overview
We are looking for a friendly, hardworking, and reliable Retail Sales Assistant to join our team in Carlow. As the face of our store, you will play a key role in welcoming customers, operating the till, stocking shelves, and keeping the store clean, bright, and easy to shop.
Key Responsibilities1. Customer Experience & Till Operation
- Provide a warm, friendly welcome to every customer entering the store.
- Process customer transactions quickly and accurately at the checkout/POS system.
- Handle cash, card payments, and basic till procedures responsibly.
- Strictly enforce legislation regarding age-restricted sales (Tobacco/Vape, National Lottery, Alcohol, etc.).
2. Store Presentation & Merchandising
- Assist with incoming stock deliveries, unloading, and unpacking merchandise.
- Ensure shelves are consistently fully stocked, neatly faced off, and price tags are accurate.
- Practice strict stock rotation (First In, First Out) to minimize stock waste.
3. Food Safety & Hygiene
- Maintain high standards of store cleanliness, ensuring aisles, till areas, and counters are spotless.
- Support deli or fresh food staff as needed, adhering to basic food safety and HACCP guidelines.
- Assist with general daily and evening shift cleaning duties.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience: Previous retail, customer service, or hospitality experience is a plus, but full training will be provided for candidates with the right attitude.
- Communication: Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills with a strong command of English.
- Attitude: Punctual, reliable, energetic, and eager to work as part of a team.
- Flexibility: Available to work flexible shift patterns, including early mornings, late shifts, and weekends.
- Eligibility: Must be eligible to work in Ireland.
