Eliza Lodge Nursing Home is seeking a reliable and motivated Chef Assistant/ Kitchen Assistant, preparing high-quality meals while maintaining a clean, organized, and safe kitchen. The ideal candidate will assist with food preparation, ingredient organization, kitchen sanitation, and ensuring smooth day-to-day kitchen operations. This role is for a motivated enthusiastic person, maintaining the highest standards of safety and hygiene, providing a quality service in a homely environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Food preparation.
- Prepare basic dishes and ingredients according to recipes and the chef's instructions.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen, including workstations, equipment, and utensils.
- Store food properly and monitor stock rotation using the First In, First Out (FIFO) method.
- Assist with receiving, inspecting, and storing food deliveries.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and health regulations..
- Refill kitchen supplies and report low inventory levels.
- Dispose of waste appropriately and keep kitchen areas organized.
- Ensure timely meal preparation.
- Follow all company policies and kitchen safety procedures.
- Perform other kitchen-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a commercial kitchen is preferred but not required.
- Basic knowledge of food preparation techniques and kitchen equipment.
- Understanding of food safety and hygiene practices.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Good time management and attention to detail.
