About Us Cyclopath Cycling School delivers Balance Bike, Learn to Cycle, Cycling Skills, and Cycle Right (the national in-school cycle training programme) to children, young people, and adults, alongside community cycling initiatives and cycling camps across the region. As demand for our programmes grows, we're looking for enthusiastic instructors to help build safer, more confident cyclists in their communities.
The Role You'll deliver our cycling programmes in schools and community settings across Louth, Meath, Monaghan, Cavan, and North Dublin City & County, working with a range of ages and abilities. Previous Cycle Right experience isn't required. Full training is provided, with training costs covered by Cyclopath Cycling School.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver Balance Bike, Learn to Cycle, Cycling Skills, and Cycle Right sessions in schools and community settings.
- Support cycling camps and community programmes.
- Run safe, engaging, inclusive sessions tailored to different ages and abilities.
- Promote cycling safety, confidence, and active travel.
- Represent Cyclopath professionally, with high standards of teaching and safety.
Working Pattern:
- Term-time: Aligned closely with the primary and secondary school calendars.
- Weekdays: Monday to Friday, primarily during school hours, with occasional evenings.
- Weekends: Occasional weekends for community events, training days, and cycling camps (notified well in advance).
- Flexibility: Hours vary with school timetables and demand. Contracted hours will be regularly reviewed and adjusted in line with actual average hours worked, fully consistent with statutory entitlements under Irish employment law.
What We're Looking For (Essential):
- Experience working with children, young people, or community groups.
- A passion for cycling and helping others build cycling skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with strong organisational ability.
- Full, clean driving licence.
- Willingness to travel to schools and programme locations across the region.
- Successful completion of Garda Vetting before starting (initiated by Cyclopath).
- Completion of any required safeguarding training.
- Availability to complete the Cycle Right Instructor training course in September (arranged for suitable candidates if not already held).
Desirable Criteria:
- Experience in teaching, sports coaching, outdoor education, or youth work.
- Current First Aid certification.
- Cycle Right Instructor qualification.
Pay & Benefits:
- Highly Competitive Pay: €19.00–€23.00 per hour (hourly rate is comprehensive and factors in occasional weekend flexibility).
