Core Fitness is the leisure and wellness facility at Claregalway Hotel, offering members and hotel guests a modern fitness experience. Our facilities include a fully equipped gym, 18-metre swimming pool, sauna, jacuzzi, fitness studio, and an expanding programme of swim academy lessons, group fitness classes, and wellness activities.

The Role
We are seeking an energetic, hands-on Leisure Centre General Manager to lead the day-to-day operation of Core Fitness.
This is a hands-on position with responsibility for the gym, swimming pool, leisure facilities, swimming lesson programme, fitness activities, team leadership, plant room, energy management and overall commercial performance.
The successful candidate will drive member retention, grow new memberships, develop programmes for all ages, and ensure the highest standards of safety, cleanliness, and customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive sales and membership growth.
- Lead, manage, and motivate the leisure team.
- Oversee daily operations of the gym, pool, plant room and leisure facilities.
- Develop and grow memberships, revenue streams, and retention strategies.
- Manage the swim academy membership streams up to graduation.
- Ensure outstanding customer service for both members and hotel guests.
- Oversee staffing, recruitment, training, and performance management.
- Keep Leisure centre section of Alkimii, out hr tool up to date
- Manage Mindoby portal our booking software
- Manager ordering of stock, placed through Procure Wizard
- Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness, presentation, and safety.
- Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety, pool operations, and plant room management requirements.
- Manage budgets, stock control, and departmental costs.
- Work closely with hotel management on marketing, events, and promotions.
- Work alongside the Green Team with managing energy consumption, water and waste
- Drive continuous improvement across all areas of the club.
About You
- Previous management experience in a leisure centre, health club, or fitness environment.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Experience using Alkimii, Procure Wizard and Mindbody or similar membership and booking software.
- Commercially minded with a strong focus on membership, swim academy growth and retention.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Highly organised, proactive, and able to lead by example.
- Fitness qualification essential.
- Pool Plant Operator qualification essential.
- Lifeguard, Qualified swim instructor and Occupational First Aid qualifications desirable.
