We are currently seeking a passionate, experienced, and ambitious Head Greenskeeper to lead our greenkeeping team and maintain the course to the highest standard .Role OverviewAs Head Greenskeeper, you will be responsible for the overall maintenance, management, and presentation of the golf course and its surrounding estate. You will lead a dedicated team, implement agronomic strategies, and ensure the course is maintained to championship standards. Key Responsibilities
- Course Maintenance & Agronomy: Plan, direct, and supervise all aspects of golf course maintenance, including the cutting of greens, tees, fairways, surrounds, and rough. Manage turfgrass maintenance programs, irrigation systems, drainage, and pest control to ensure the health and consistency of all playing surfaces .
- Team Leadership & Management: Recruit, train, motivate, and supervise the greenkeeping staff. Roster and delegate daily tasks, foster a positive and professional team culture, and ensure high standards of work and safety are maintained .
- Course Set-Up & Presentation: Oversee daily course set-up, including pin placements, tee marker rotation, and bunker maintenance. Ensure the course is presented to the highest standard for regular play and special events .
- Operational & Financial Management: Manage the department’s budget, including forecasting expenses and controlling costs. Oversee the maintenance and upkeep of all machinery and equipment, and manage stock levels of supplies and materials .
- Health, Safety & Compliance: Ensure all team members adhere to strict health and safety standards. Maintain accurate records for pesticide applications and other regulatory requirements. Possess a valid spray licence and ensure compliance with all safety protocols .
- Stakeholder Communication: Liaise effectively with resort management, golf operations, and other departments to support events and ensure a seamless guest experience. Communicate proactively with golfers and members regarding course conditions .
The Ideal Candidate
- Qualifications: A relevant qualification in Greenkeeping or Turf Management (Level 6 or equivalent) is required .
- Experience: Proven experience in a senior or supervisory greenkeeping role at a high-quality golf venue. A strong track record of managing a team and maintaining a course to a high standard is essential .
- Skills & Knowledge:
- Knowledge of modern turf management practices, agronomy, and irrigation systems .
- Strong leadership and team management skills with a positive and "can-do" attitude .
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal .
- Ability to work on own initiative and solve problems effectively .
- A valid driver's licence .
- Pesticide application qualifications (PA1, PA2, PA6) are essential .
