ASA Solar is a newly established Solar PV installation company delivering high-quality solar energy solutions for homes and businesses across Cork and the wider Munster region.
Although ASA Solar is a new company, it is backed by the experience, reputation and operational strength of ASA, an established access control, security and automation business with over 20 years’ experience working across domestic and commercial projects.
We are now looking for an Electrical General Operative to join our growing Solar PV installation team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a reliable and hardworking person who is interested in electrical work, renewable energy and developing a long-term career within the Solar PV industry.
The Role
The successful candidate will work alongside our qualified electricians and wider installation team, supporting the electrical aspects of domestic, agricultural and commercial Solar PV installations.
You will assist with preparing materials, installing electrical containment, running cables, maintaining an organised work area and ensuring electricians have the equipment and support required to complete each installation safely and efficiently.
No electrical qualification is required, but previous experience working as an electrical labourer, apprentice, general operative or tradesperson would be an advantage.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist qualified electricians during Solar PV and battery storage installations.
- Help prepare electrical equipment, cables, tools and materials for each installation.
- Assist with running and securing electrical cables.
- Install cable tray, trunking, conduit and other electrical containment under supervision.
- Assist with the installation of inverters, batteries, isolators and related equipment.
- Load, unload and organise materials, tools and equipment.
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised work area.
- Follow instructions from the lead electrician and project management team.
- Work closely with electricians, roofers and other installation team members.
- Follow all company health and safety procedures.
- Communicate professionally with homeowners, site contacts and colleagues.
- Help ensure installations are completed within agreed timelines.
- Represent ASA Solar professionally while working on customers’ properties.
Requirements
- Previous experience in construction, electrical work, Solar PV or a general operative position is preferred but not essential.
- An interest in electrical work and renewable energy.
- Comfortable using hand tools and power tools.
- Physically fit and comfortable carrying equipment and materials.
- Ability to follow instructions and work safely under supervision.
- Reliable, punctual and willing to learn.
- Strong work ethic and professional attitude.
- Ability to work well as part of a team.
- Full clean driving licence is strongly preferred.
- Safe Pass and Manual Handling certificates are preferred.
- Working at Heights training would be an advantage.

The ideal candidate will take pride in their work, follow instructions carefully and support the qualified electricians and wider installation team in delivering clean, safe and professional Solar PV installations.
This role may suit someone with experience as an electrical labourer, construction operative, trades assistant or electrical apprentice who wants to build experience within the renewable energy industry.
