Accounts Assistant

Role Overview:
Mooney's Hyundai is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join our finance team. This role is responsible for supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the accounts function across the business, ensuring financial transactions are processed accurately and efficiently. Working closely with the Financial Controller, the successful candidate will assist with purchase and sales ledger activities, bank reconciliations, reporting, and general finance administration. Key Responsibilities:
· Process purchase invoices accurately and in a timely manner.
· Prepare supplier payments and reconcile supplier statements.
· Assist with sales ledger administration, including customer account reconciliations.
· Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations.
· Process cash, card and electronic payments, ensuring accurate recording of transactions.
· Assist with month-end and year-end financial procedures.
· Maintain accurate financial records and ensure all documentation is filed correctly.
· Support the preparation of management reports and other financial information as required.
· Liaise with suppliers, customers and internal departments to resolve account queries efficiently.
· Assist with vehicle-related accounting transactions, including stock and manufacturer processes where required.
· Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards and internal controls.
· Provide general administrative support to the finance department and assist with ad hoc projects as required.
Requirements:
· Previous experience in an accounts or finance administration role.
· Accounting Technician qualification (or working towards one) is desirable but not essential.
· Strong numerical and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
· Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
· Experience using accounting software or Dealer Management Systems (DMS) would be an advantage.
· Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise workloads.
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a team.
· A proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop.
· High level of accuracy, integrity and confidentiality when handling financial information.
· Experience within the motor industry would be beneficial but is not essential.
