The Marlay is currently recruiting for a Part-Time Maintenance Assistant (2 days per week).
We are part of the CareChoice Group, which consists of 15 nursing homes. The Marlay is one of South Dublin's most reputable nursing homes, built to the highest standards and dedicated to delivering exceptional care to our residents.
We are looking for a reliable, hands-on individual who takes pride in maintaining a safe, clean and well-presented environment for our residents, visitors and staff.
To assist in maintaining the nursing home's buildings, grounds, equipment and facilities to a high standard, ensuring a safe, comfortable and well-maintained environment for residents, visitors and employees.

Carry out general maintenance, repairs and decorating throughout the nursing home.

Complete routine maintenance tasks and respond promptly to maintenance requests.

Assist in maintaining the building, grounds, gardens and outdoor areas to a high standard.

Carry out basic plumbing, painting, carpentry and minor repair work within your level of competence.

Assist with the movement and assembly of furniture and equipment as required.

Monitor and report any defects or hazards within the building.

Support routine checks of plant equipment, heating systems, water systems and fire safety equipment.

Assist with weekly fire safety inspections and ensure emergency exits remain clear at all times.

Maintain maintenance records and report completed works to management.

Ensure all tools, equipment and maintenance stores are kept clean, secure and organised.

Liaise with external contractors and service providers when required.

Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with Health & Safety legislation.

Promote infection prevention and control procedures while carrying out maintenance duties.

Help maintain a safe, welcoming and comfortable environment for residents, staff and visitors.

Carry out any other reasonable duties as requested by management.

Previous experience in general maintenance, caretaking, facilities or a similar role.

Practical knowledge of basic plumbing, painting, carpentry and general repairs.

Good understanding of health and safety practices.

Ability to work independently and prioritise workload.

Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

A positive, flexible and proactive attitude.

Experience working within a healthcare setting is desirable but not essential.
